A change to PPCs that could balance LRMs a bit
Note: this is what I posted on the MWO Sugestion section of the forum but I wanted to post it here as well and see what you guys think.
now on to the post.
From Sarna on the PPC
PPCs as implemented now cause your hud to go all fuzzy and stuff....but what if they did effect Targeting Sensors?Targets hit by multiple, simultaneous PPCs can also suffer electrical side-effects, such as overloaded computer systems or targeting sensors.5] The ion beam also extends to much farther ranges than autocannon fire, though PPCs generate large amounts of waste heat.
I propose that PPCs and ERPPCs have the added effect of breaking LRM/Streak lock if more than one of them hit at the same time. I think that this would balance out LRMs as the dominant weapon on the battle field since anyone with a stock K2 Catapult or either of the 2 Awesome variants can break the LRM lock momentarily and retreat to a safe bit of cover.
I belive that this would balance LRMs well as well as bring more PPCs to the battlefield....
Another small thing about the PPC....If maybe they caused momentary..(im talking a second or less) view obstruction with like blue static or whatever I think that would make them even better without having to raise damage to much. At that point they become not only Powerful weapons but viable support weapons that can cover your clan mates charge up the battlefield from some, if not most LRM fire.
Any comments on this? Am I compleetly off my rocker?

I think it was discussed at one point that PPCs would add an affect that would rattle electronic stuff. Maybe that includes something that could break an electronic missile lock? Sort of like you mentioned with the blue static. I haven't heard anything else on this yet.
Anyone else?

It should be coming within the next few patches actually. Was mentioned during the AMA last month and a few dev posts that I can't seem to find.

I am hoping that the fixed DHS system will allow mechs to be more heat efficient using PPCs. Also, I found them not to be as accurate as gauss rifles but maybe thats just my lack of practice with them.

Sorry Lotus, DHS are no longer DHS. They are a 40% boost instead of a 100% boost over SHS. 1.4 vs 2.0 dissipation.
