The ER Large Lasers give you great effect at a safe distance. I have torn out the shoulders or back armor of many heavy/assault mechs without them being able to get near me with this combination.

Version 1 is the most effective at range, but requires greater skill with aiming and heat management when up close.

(if you don't want to spend on FF, you can just take a bunch of armor off the arms)

Version 2 is a compromise between ranged and close combat.
