AS7-RS Little Bita Lightning Little Bita Thunder(4xPPC,2xSRM6,AMS)
Strategy: PPCs will naturally be your Primary weapon but they (INCORRECT: DO NOT damage anything within 90m) *do LESS damage when used within 90m* which is where your SRMs come into play. Use the SRMs for those close encounters but don't rely on them to earn you kills with the exception of heavily damaged mechs. With this Mech you should either snipe or stay with the Pack but towards the rear of it. Try to be mindful of friendly mechs who like to cross your line of fire. 4 PPCs to the back can easily earn you a Team Kill. The heat rating is 1.1 but that can be deceptive since you will be using the PPCs and SRMs separately. Only firing your PPCs you can get off 2 salvos without over heating on any map. On Frozen City just pause for a moment to get off a quick 3rd. I suggest 3 weapons groups. Left and right arm should be different weapon groups with your SRMs as a 3rd. Alpha Strikes should only be used (INNCORRECT: in those 90-270m) *when under 270m* during an OH $%!# situation where you think the next shot you fire will be your last. Only using one type of weapon at a time "lowers" the firepower but "raises" the heat efficiency. If you are starting to over heat you can fire one arm at a time which can help a lot.
Change 1: PPCs will do damage when used at a range of less than 90m but it is less damage. Not sure how much less. I'll still stick with the SRMs because I still commonly run into situations where I have to deal with mechs at close range and I prefer SRMs for that. I also like the better heat efficiency.

Just an FYI, PPCs DO deal damage under 90m, just significantly less. I've watched via spectator as my friends have used PPCs to kill a target under 90m. Yea, it took extra shots to total normal damage, but they still netted the kill.
Just remember not to be afraid to use them if you think you can snag the final blow on them through exposed internals.

I just learned the hard way that PPc's do damage within 90m. as Marukeru says. I was fighting a PPC Stalker and was extremely surprised when I took alot of damage at point blank range. Although the shot didn't kill me it was a hard lesson learned.
I think that this is an excellent build and if I ever get over my inability to pilot assault 'Mechs, this will be the first I buy. Thanks for the info.

That is good info to know. Thanks. I've never seen info that says they do damage that close but it does make sense. I'll have to edit my post. Since I do about as much Damage as the "Thor's Hammer" build I think I'll still keep with this one anyway. Most matches I'm in I end up with at least 1 mech close enough for me to put a few salvos of SRMs into. Thanks again.

Running PPC for Direct-Fire Support is great, especially since you have a close range defense with the 2x SRM 6. PPC will tell them to take cover or close the gap, SRM will teach them they should have just grabbed cover. It's a nice build, and if you manage the heat well you will do great things in it.

For a second I thought I was posting on my Stalker build which is why I said I'd keep the SRM6. On the Atlas you don't have the 6x PPC option. Naturally. I suppose you could go with ballistic weapons but they are heavy and the lighter ones don't have the same damage output as SRMs. By the way... My Stalker build is essentially the same thing. This is actually the build that gave me the idea for the stalker build. I started off by trying to transfer it over to the Atlas as best I could. I fell in love with the SRM option and made the switch on my Thor's Hammer as well.

My RS is running uAC/5 + PPC + 2ML + 2SRM6 and it seems to scare ppl to death, all that ordnance flying about at once.

I have a build that utilizes 2 UAC5s but thats a pretty large deviation from this. I'm not sure its on my RS though.

I really like this configuration. But I made some changes. I get rid of two SRM6 in favor of two SRM4 with artemis. I also dump two tons of SRM ammo, add BAP (after 21st may patch it will be so much more useful) and a little bit of amour.
