After the new patch I decided to give the new small pulses a try, and I gotta say I am impressed. I average 400 damage a match and reach into the 700 and 800s. Its easy to keep those little beams right on the sweet spot for half a second and before you know it they are ready to pew pew at them again. Because of the small beam time it is great for jousting back and forth and quickly firing and turning your torso around to spread out the damage instead of holding a medium on there allowing them to line that shot straight to your ct.

I am eating other light mechs alive with concentrated damage and tearing armor off of heavier ones for my team to finish off. Sometimes it works the other way around to steal the kill .

Of course the range is mighty short, so you gotta plan out your avenue of approach and use your head to not get stuck taking round after round while you close on someone. Heat management is manageable but...

I've stolen the name of this 'Mech from a friend of mine (until now...lol) UntamedZero. I take the name because it is the most fitting I could find for the Jenner's role as an Interceptor.

The ability to stay glued to the back of any other light 'Mech while dealing out continuous damage is outstanding with this chassy. Exceptional manouverability and the abilty to fly coupled with the 30 point Alpha make this a 'Mech to be feared. One thing to be wary of however, is the need to maintain your Heat Discipline; I have shut down at the most inappropriate times...in front of an Atlas. (Just my luck!)

I have been trying out the various (Jenner)Energy Boat builds here on 'Mech Specs and after a great deal of testing; I've decided on this Variant.

This build hasn't been posted yet, but it's very popular both in pug and 12v12, and I'm pretty sure several of you are already using one with success. So here it is!

Basically it's the classic 6*MLs build with one less laser, traded for one more DHS, in order to make heat management easier. Alpha strike is lower but this build really shines in sustained engagements and hot environments. Helpful if you find the 6*MLs build too hot.

My other JR7-F is built with 6*SPLs, and if I had to compare those two I say the 5*MLs variant is:
1/ weaker on light vs light engagements. Damage dealt is less concentrated, jousting manoeuvres aren't very effective;
2/ much safer against bigger targets, since you can engage at longer range and harass without fully commit.

There are a lot of way to build this mech according to your playstyle and requirements, but here is mine:

I have 2 JR7-F chassis. One is the classic 6 MLas build and I used the second for a 6 SPLas, but it's definitely too close-range to be effective. So I was looking for another build. I had one specification for this: use 5 or more hardpoints (if I don't, then better use the -K variant).
I tested different builds. Everything with small lasers varies from useless to crap, and that's annoying because it's a good way to use hardpoints at little tonnage. Once I accepted this fact I resigned myself to use a combination of heavy weapon and MLas, even though at first it seams too hot to be viable.
Here the first I tried to be fun and viable:

It requires some heat management skill but it's actually not so hot (less than I thought at least).
The PPC works for harassing/sniping, as well as a complement for MLas at medium range when you have the time to cool-off between shots.
In sustained engagement I mostly use the MLas.

It's...
For those who find the 6xML builds too hot, this is what I've been running on my Jenner-F. I run the medium lasers in separate arm groups, with both smalls on a third grouping. Over the -D (still my favourite) this is a nice change of pace with better heat management and no reliance on ammo (as well as being a touch faster than my typical -D).

Fast lots of dmg and a tag, and the heat is easy to manage. The MPL lasers seem to hit the target a lot better when moving at these speeds to me than the ML. I enjoy running circles around larger mechs with tag on them while spamming MPL on chain fire it annoys them quite well, and if there happens to be a missile boat around it's also fun to watch all those missiles dump on there heads. It also does well against other lights and the ever dreaded cicada (they usually run after the first MPL blast lol)... The build also doesn't have to worry about others with ECM like some of the other variants do. 1 Jump jet seems plenty to me, I do a LOT of aerial maneuvers. But best of all.....:
