After much playing with the Oxide I found that I was easily able to get 700-800 points of damage in a match (using Arty and Airstrike to supplement my damage output). The problem I was running in to was running out of missiles and then just running around waiting for someone to kill me.

By dropping to a XL295 from an XL300 I freed up .5 of a ton and lost 2kph of speed. I shaved off a little armor here and there (seems to be a discrepancy between Smurfy and ingame Mechlab for a single point of armor). The shaved armor added up to a further .5 of a ton which allowed me to add a third ton of ammo (3 tons for 300 missiles).

This little modification allowed me much greater damage potential!!!

I also cheated adapted and added Artemis since it is a known bug that Artemis decreases lock time even if you are using streaks!

This is meant as a mixture of LRM suppression, fire support and a continuous stress factor for enemy mechs. Especially the latest duty can be fullfilled best when firing the LRM5s in chain. Ammo is plenty, 5 tons mean 45 shots / launcher.

I am sure the XL235 looks odd at first, but it grants enough speed for quick repositionings as well as capping points far off before joining the main force again. It's the maximum engine a Blackjack can carry, so it shouldn't be that uncommon.

An XL255 will work as well, but costs the 5th ton of ammo:

One of the many flaws the Oxide has is the hardpoints repartition on both torso and arms. The low pitch (only 20°) combined with the absence of jumpjets make the use of the torso launchers difficult on uneven terrain (this is especially true at very short range).

That's why, based on the classic 4x SRM4s build (the "Freak"), I experimented with two builds in order to transfer as much fire-power as I could on the arms:
- the "Freaker", equipped with 2x SRM6s on the arms and 2x SRM2s on the torso;
- the "Freakerer", equipped with 2x ASRM6s on the arms.

Testing is still on going, I don't know yet what build to prefer of the three.
The idea behind this build, compared to both the Freak and the Freaker, is to deal less damage but more precisely. As well as having all the fire-power...
Haven't used yet was trying a bunch of stuff last night but got inspired today searching around. Well one of my fav's from back in day was Jenner IIC realized I could almost pull it off with Oxide. Just dont have SSRM4 (thus the 2 SSRM2's) and well cant do a 315XL engine but decently close enough. Didn't see a similar version listed so here she is. Seemed to be a reasonable change to the 4x SSRM2

2x SRM6 are for close in straight on shots. Used appropriately vs big mech's, ideally frontal or rear as you race by to get the most missiles hitting. Leading target with SRM's can be a pain, thus why ya see STREAK boats.

2x SSRM2's for dealing with the fast lights that for most part waste of SRM6 shots and can add in some extra damage against big boys.

A bit of everything. SRM4 in CT to keep on fighting when the arms are knocked off.

The LRM is for netting some assists, draining AMS (everyone has to fire roughly the same amount of AMS ammo when there are any missiles around), finishing off damaged/legged targets, and to damage slow things without AMS.

2x streaks for every short range needm located in different places so they keep on working when you are damaged. They hit enemy the same anyways.

SRM4 since there are many ECM around these days. Also good for every situation.

Ammo is one ton for each type of ammo, which should be enough. If you want more ammo you will have to skim on the engine rating.

This build was made in an effort to actively engage EMC mechs as well as those not covered.
I was able to keep the armor up at a fairly high level with a speed that suits my playing style.
Those that want more speed may drop a ton of ammo or strip off a little armor to step up to the bigger motors.

Here is an example with a XL295 and the armor stripped down a little to keep the ammo count the same.
Some might find it beneficial to swap out a ton of the SSRM ammo for another ton of SRM ammo.

Here is another variant but this one I use more for brawling, if you can call a Jenner a brawler
I put the SRM6's in the arm to get more aiming ability. A single SSRM2 is still here as well as the BAP for the ECM mechs.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

As the name implies this is a dumb build.
There is no targeting assist or ECM counter measure but it will rake against the light ECM mechs if you take the time to learn to lead your target!

With the 280 engine you aren't going to win a drag race so I usually play pretty close to the group with this build.

- the "Freaker", equipped with 2x SRM6s on the arms and 2x SRM2s on the torso;
- the "Freakerer", equipped with 2x ASRM6s on the arms.

Testing is still on going, I don't know yet what build to prefer of the three.
