+1 All mechs of the same weight class have the same armor/structure base. So you can look at any 100t mech and it will have the same armor and structure.
You sirs are correct! I just cross referenced various mechs in my garage, and came back to see you posted the info that I just realized, haha. That's great news! Kodiak is now even better than I initially thought!
Like I said. Obscene close-quarters firepower. We've found a new King of Assault Brawlers here, people - all the different Kodiaks seem to be godsends for it. And then you get that 4x Gauss setup...
Let's see how it'll perform on the battlefield. Like some said already in the official forum - the Kodi has many goodies of the IS Atlas, but also some of it's flaws, E.g. It seems to be a tall Mech = a big target for the enemies. Most of the Hardpoints are in the Arms on pretty low Position - could be messy to fight on Maps with lots of obstacles. The best to do is to pilot the Mech toward it's Strengths, and also use environment plus Teamplay to compensate it's Weaknesses.
On the other hand, the nipple ballistics are higher than Atlas, so with the body height he would shoot over many low walls right onto your head. Especially true when you see quad AC10 builds.
I would still prefer 11x MPL... Going in Left Shark Right Shark Left Shark until they explode. Oh btw, what program are you using?
Excel. I use an Atlas on smurfy to get the base-weight correct with endo/ferro and armor distribution, then put that number into excel. The rest of the variables (weight and slots) are known for the equipment so I just plug it in and add it up.
Arms are actually a decent height in comparison to recent mechs. Look at the Dire, Garg, Warhammer, ect. The Kodiak seems to have decent arms. We'll see once we get an in-game look...
If you just compare Arms Hardpoints vs Arms Hardpoints, then that may be right. But still generally speaking Arms HPs are bad vs high mounted Shoulder HPs, because you still can't shoot over obstacles higher than your Arms. PGI could have put the CT Energy-HPs to the Shoulders, at least on some few Variants. But as it is now the Kodi is better designed as CQC Brawler with multiple MPL, for quick kills if getting up close & personal.
Depends on the build I have a xl equipped dual gauss Warhammer that theoretically is great relative to my JM6 but almost every game its death by gauss explosion so some designs I really prefer arm mounted.
So yeah, we can basically use the DFW Omnipods and try building the Kodis via Smurfy. Here are my raw theorycrafting configs (6.5 Tons needed to go from XL300 to XL350, 11 Tons to XL375): KDK-1 (XL350) KDK-2 (10.5 Tons left for XL350 + 2x JJ) KDK-3 (XL350) KDK-SB (XL350, notes: 1xJJ + TC2 = Placeholder for MASC IV, also 4th SRM ammo bin = Placeholder for 4th SRM4 Launcher) Only if you go for fragile gauss rifles in the STs... but generally spoken, if you don't have high mounted Arms like the JM6 or the BJ, it is always cool to have some Shoulder Lasers/PPCs intead in the low Arms.
Quad gauss, mmmmm. Quad uac10 sounds sorta like a clan xl mauler. 2 lgpls, 6 mlas or mdpls and large xl sound swell. 2 lgpls, 1 erppc, 3 mdpls will be fun to test. 4 srm6+a and lb20 on spiritbear. 2 lgpls, 8 smpls on the 11 energy variant. May try 4 lb5 and 4 mlas instead of 4 uac5. Shame there is no variant capable of 2 gauss and 5-6 mlas. Guess I'll have to settle for 2 gauss 4 mlas.
We probably won't be able to mount a big (= 20) UAC or LBX and MASC IV simultaneously while using an cXL engine because of space issues. As we all know by now, like an ECM the MASC has to be mounted in a fixed part of the mech, which sadly is the same ST as the Spirit Bear's ballistic hardpoint. So mounting an UAC 20 leads to skipping the MASC and vice versa. And no, nobody want to mount a cSTD here. A Gauss might work slot-wise, though, and probably is a nice and welcome addition to an otherwise probably pretty hot loadout.
Not a desperate fan of side torso's with gauss though I suppose its a clan xl. Its an easy crippling on a slow mech if a light or medium gets behind you.
lurms on it and argument is the damage from lurm is better then fuck the teamwork coz all the ass-salt decided to stay at the back
