Sooo... The Locust loses it's unique factor now that other mechs can go just as fast... AND YET, the Jenner is now the slowest light... Boo, PGI. BOO!
I'm kinda shocked by the light boost across the board (except jenner, sorry Cpt). Zero reason for the Locust now since it's inferior to the spd in every way (not really smaller, not faster, not better loadout, no jj, can't have worse borked hitboxes than the spd...)
The commando deserves its speed boost imho, but the spider might become even more a problem than it already was
As the ONLY 20T mech, the Locust should have the only speed advantage. They are INCREDIBLY low armored and can carry very little firepower... I am, yet again, disappointed.
Disappointed that the Locust isn't going to be unique. Everything else I'm okay with. Artillery got a huge boost, I might give it a try now. Seems like a go-to in preparation for Seismic getting its much needed change. This with the rumored UAV incentives coming up makes UAV+Artillery attractive for fast lights. Scout areas with UAV, run through enemy line to pop smoke for a 40dmg artillery strike. Yup, lights (except Jenner) just got a substantial boost.
I agree with you, the Locust should be the fastest. But I'd like the commando to run at, let's said 160kph (170 for the Locust and 150 for the others).
Hmm, just noticed the Locust has a movement archetype of Tiny. Do any of the other mechs have this? This could really boost their maneuverability since even the Commando seems to trip on small rocks and divots in the ground. Edit: Nevermind, it looks like the Commando, Spider, and Jenner are all considered Tiny as well, while the Raven and Cicada are Small.
Dropped a few times, played all 3 Locust Variants and... I love them to bits. You are nasty, you are nimble and you are even worse as a target than a spider, despite lacking JJ. Give it a try folks, the Locust is a lot of fun and in a wolf pack, like all lights, very evil.
Well, Locusts are fun, Ravens needed those boosts, so did commando. Spider would rule the day though with the upgrades. Oh and hawks are fun to play with.
Locust is kind of fun, but dies way too easily for my play style to be successful. Plus, I miss jump jets. I'm just so much better in my Jenner... It's too bad ... I think the Locust looks cool and I really wanted to like it. I almost feel like I'm betraying the Locust by not liking it, as it's been a favorite of mine ever since I read Decision at Thunder Rift way back when.
I didn't read the book, but I feel the same (Locust was a mech I loved on tabletop game). But I only played few games with it, I'll give it more chance and maybe I'll learn to use it efficiently. At least it's fun to pilot.
I still enjoy playing it. The Locust is all but useless in competitive 12 mans though. I mean you CAN survive and even contribute a little bit but with teams taking 6 Highlanders, and backing those up with a few Jenners, being in the Locust really puts you at a disadvantage. For PUG dropping and even 4 man pugging? The LCT can be great fun!! Even just a Basic'd mech.
I did a few drops in the locusts, and only died once when I got caught on some terrain between two enemy heavies. In each match I managed to sneak in a kill, but very low damage output for sure. The LCT-3M seems to be the best for actually contributing. Kinda like a JR7-K with one light out and half the armor I also did one drop each in the other Phoenix mechs, just to play. I'll need to change them up a fair bit though.
