Well i love my Locusts and T-Bolts.. cant see land with the Battlemaster though... but in used to speedy mechs. But yes... Spiders are stil rediculous compared to Locusts.
The Locust is such a Crap Mech. 1. You need an expensive XL190 to run it at Max.Speed (which you don't need for any other Mech) 2. Paperthin Armor 3. No JJs 4. No ECM 5. The Cockpit!!!
I liked the locusts on paper (except the armor) and drawings, and assuming they'd run faster than anything. Instead they also buffed commando's and spiders and it's an unnecessary match-loser now. Should have a max of 200 so it can fit a somewhat decent engine that you might use on another mech. Shadow Hawks on the other hand,
I look into my magic crystal ball, and I see PGI releasing a forth version for each Phoenix mech soon that will come with all the ballistic, missile, energy or better placed (arm -> torso, torso -> arm) slots that we have been waiting for to create a reasonable build - only it will be a Champion Mech, MC only
Nah, won't and can't happen cuz Champion Mechs are just standard variants with better equipment, not changed hard points
Marec was talking about CHAMPION Mechs. If Hero Mechs were meant, fine, but my reply was correct in the grand scheme of terminology
Not for CHAMPION mech definitely as far as different hardpoints is concerned. Equipments mean nothing cause no one run stock anyways, though some champion mech have reasonable equipment as a roll out config. As for HERO mechs, it will not happen in the near future but probably later. Look at the Founders mech. HERO mech variants for founder mech types does come out, but it would take a while. HERO mech does have different hardpoints.
It's been several times I read the Shadowhawk is a YLW with JJ and AC in the torso... To me the SHD is much closer to the hunchback than to the YLW, and the real flying YLW is the blackjack BJ-1. (btw, are those annoying bars also on the regular LCT-1V, or only on the phoenix variant?)
I am using the 400XL engine with 6ML and an AC10 on the G, similar to http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=4204.0 I have a wonky build on my D with 2 AC2s and an AC5 and a few MLs. My S is the standard 4ML, 4SRM6 loadout.
Like this? Maybe I should try it. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=118&l=6d8dfc82b5ff974fc5c9bdba5699f7a607496f9a
Yep, I'm at work and Smurfy doesn't work on this computer, but that looks like it may be my exact build. Little armor off the legs, all 6 lasers in the torso so you can use the right arm as a damage soak and not worry about losing a weapon, ammo in the legs. You can't lead the charge in it, due to the XL engine, and it'll be tempting to because of your speed, but hang out with the mediums and try and be part of the flanking group. It's easy to get behind other assaults and focus on their rear armor. People will be very surprised at how quickly you can relocate and/or flank.
