Brawl-oriented splat cat with ability to poptart at close range. I peaked with good effect in the caustic game below where both teams were clustered with a ridge in-between.

Arm actuators are on for the lasers, so there are actually 0 slots left.

Note: CT slot is swappable. On the prime variant, you get the CBill bonus and you can run a 3rd MG. On the C variant you get a 5th ERMLas (though the other 4 are arm mounted).

I wanted to see if it was possible to do a viable 10+/20+ sustained/max dps and came back to the tusker set of weapons. Basic efficiency and no mutually exclusive weapons (ie no LRMs with machine guns). In the real world, I'd probably drop one DHS for another ton of SRM ammo.

No adjustments to the OPs build (I liked this a lot on test, and he upgraded with cMGs).

    Wow, fantastic game.

924 dmg, 5 kills 3 assists in an 8-12 loss is the best I've been able to do.

The second build will play a bit differently as I've noticed that using artemis with SRMs gives you about 50m on effective range. Combined with the extra machine guns, it will be even more brawl orientated. I built it as an exercise in dps metrics mostly.

Yeah Artemis makes it so that if i'm from 160 to 220 is my sweet spot. The missile cross is most dense there (dunno if you guys notice this while moving, but I'm always moving so I see it a lot) and I probably get 70% of my missiles on my crosshairs. That is a HUGE step up from PreClan game and I'm very glad for it (I was probably getting 30% before and not all of that was registering).

The major recommendation I have for anyone wanting to play this or any Timberwolf is to Master the Nova. Yeah it sounds dumb, but that mech trains you to use you arms well, to torso twist, and it is pretty close movement wise so that what you naturally learn (without thinking) applies well to the Twolf. Then when you move into the Tusker, you suddenly have tons more damage potential and you are still thinking like a medium which allows you to avoid more damage and hit and run, which I have to say this mech excels at.

Also thanks for the compliment on that game. That isn't average, but most of mine in that one are 600+ with a lot of assists (IS Mechs be stealing my kills).

Hit and run works extremely well with the Timber Wolf, think like a medium and go on for greatness.

The only issue I have (which makes this a four star IMHO) is ghost heat on 4 SRM6 launchers. Downgrade two of them to SRM4's and you don't have that problem anymore, at the cost of four missiles per volley. I run something similar with that SRM setup and no GH.

    Best of luck!

Lan, you've been playing with ghost heat the whole time and didn't notice :p SRM4 and SRM6 are in linked heat penalty groups (see smurfy). The heat penalty on firing a salvo of SRM24 is 17.20-16.00=1.20 heat. I think its a non-issue. It isn't exactly like firing, say 3 PPCs where the heat penalty on the 3rd is 57.15-45.00=12.15 heat.

Interesting, I had forgotten they were still linked. I guess the percieved heat gain on the difference between SRM24 and SRM20 hid the ghost heat. Thanks e92. :)

I fiddled around with your build and came up with this. I don't think it's dissimilar enough to be considered a different build, so I posted it here. I removed the JJs because I don't really like or use them on heavier 'mechs. I replaced the ER Mediums with Medium Pulse lasers because I suck with lasers and the shorter the burn time the better. I also swapped out two of the SRM6s for SRM4s, I did this for three reasons. First is to save weight, second because SRM4s are more accurate and I'm willing to lose four missiles per volley if more of them hit dead on and third to use the differing cycle times to stagger the shots whilst having them all grouped on the one button. Oh, and one ton of MG ammo is more than enough for me.

I might move some ammo around, perhaps load in a few more heat sinks instead of SRM ammo, but that would need a bit more testing in the field.

    5/5,
Excellent Brawler Build! The Point-Blank Range Damage is ultra cruel. ^_^
