Hey guys! I used to post on here a long time ago. I ended up quitting MWO because I realized how much I was spending on this "free" game, and how much spare change I actually had. I think there were also other factors, such as how they were handling various balance issues (either making choices I didn't agree with, or ignoring big things players wished for). Anyway, I'm thinking that my spare change situation might be changing, or hopefully I have better self control now, but I've been thinking about Mechwarrior again and thinking about picking up the game again. However, I'm a bit nervous after so much time away. When I last played the game, Community Warfare had just come out, but other than that it seemed most patches simply dealt with the additions of new mechs to the game. What's happened in the past couple of years to the game besides the addition of new mechs? Is the game still as popular as it was then, or has it noticeably gone up or down in popularity during that time?
A bit of both really. But still, there is a reasomnable population, and you find games relatively quick. Oh and many of us are still here. Maps are getting prettier and rebalanced, they change Fraction Play a bit, and with scout mode. There is also some tests on getting rid of ghost heat system with another thing. Decals and paintjobs and new maps, you know the deal so I am not even mentioning. They do seem to be having more freebies at at events though. Oh and something call supply cache that you get sometimes after a match where you can gamble for new stuff, though I just sell them for the extra 50k I can get.
So ghost heat is still a thing? Have there been any other major balance changes since Ghost heat and Clan mechs became a thing?
Yes, on ghostheat they play with the numbers and heat scale and ranges of activation, also tweaks on heatsink/DHS and the heat capacities... did a few heat draw tests but no conclusions. At least they are not trying the informtion warfare shit anymore.
Well I can think of a few major changes like the switch of clan bonuses to set ones where you generally need to keep the omnipods unchanged to get them. Big change is probably the steady revamp of the maps.
@skribs Welcome back. I'm currently not playing MWO either so I feel your pain but it is nice to see some of the old guard still around or at least walking in the door!
They could have made nothing but a grey flat surface and it would have been better than the old one. Seriously, the old TT was HORRIBLE.
Well tbh it wasn't anywhere as near as horrible as one particular current white empty plain we have to play on... that gets the award for worst map ever.
