I was actually trying to fit something like (2xUAC10, 4xML, LExxx) for a 6R (like an old meta build I read years ago), but then I realised I really didn't liked it because I had not enough tonnage or balance (firepower/armor/cooling etc.). Suddenly, I thought that I could do a similar build for the 7S, but with MRMs This build is hot: it does have a pretty nice alfa strike, but you must not alfa too often or you will overheat very soon. For my experience, this could be an alternative brawler, because the closer you are, the better your MRMs will focus on components, but you are gonna spread a lot of damage anyway and you really risk to overheat in the middle of a fight, so never start a brawl if you are not certain that you can kill him in 2-3 strikes. ALT: 3xMRM20 grants more cooling and less slot consumption, but the build will now be asymmetrical... This STD 300 performs very similar, but is slower. ALT 2: LE300 cooler version with shield arms ALT 3: LE300 3xMRM20 even cooler version but asymmetric
I struggled to find a good build for this variant and then I found this one, but you managed to post it first. Having 60 MRM's up high in those ears is great, you just have to get used to firing without actual line-of-site to get the most out of it.
What do you mean by this? It would be great if it were possible to blind fire. But in my testing I found that MRMs always fire towards the target reticle. So if you do not have LOS then you cannot hit your target. If you begin the shot with LOS but lose it to cover while retreating, then the shot also fires into the cover.
Yes, the missals will go toward the reticle. As an example, I have had an enemy just over the other side of a hill and although I cannot see him, since the missal ears are higher than the cock pit the ears actually do have "line of sight" so if I aim for the reticle the missals can clear the ridge line. Keep in mind, I am not trying to compare MRM arc to that of LRMs.
So decided to upgrade my old Spalthammer which lacks punch in current games. First idea was to run this But that was too hotish in training ground, so when i have cbills will upgrade to this
If you ask me, don't. You are way too cool and literally have no way to pinpoint damage above 100 meters. IMHO is a waste.
UPDATE: due to recent re-discovery of XL engine potential, due to XL engine being lighter and due to the fact warhammer has good torso stats and excellent arm shields, here goes an XL325 version with almost maxed armor. Way cooler, but every additional DHS is in the arms. Use the arms as additional damage soaker and if a side gets cored, tank with the other side. With a good survival tree it should tank very well.
This build looks interesting. For 2xMRM's, it is hard to compete with the IV4, and a few mediums also run MRM's quite well. The high missile mounts certainly help. Here's another option; going with SL's instead of ML's, to make it more of an absolute toe-to-toe high DPS brawler: _ I have quite a few mechs with MRM's and ML's, it is a winning combination. SL's is just another option.
