I run this build on my 3R not my 3R(S). Great build, dropped to a 295 engine and run AMS. This thing surprises me with it's damage output. Just had a run with 963 damage and 2 kills, 3 kills most damage. Unfortunately I have a new machine and thought i had a screen shot but apparently I'm not hitting the right keys.

First time someone has rated one of my builds, thanks for the rating, and the comments.
Here it is in it's present state after leveling. It works best as a second line mech IMO... for all practical purposes a kill meister..... focus fire on vulnerable ST's and you will be dropping mechs left and right.

Is thinking that maybe doing this on a 5M is better. You lose a bit of the range but you can get JJ.
(If I recall correctly LBX does not benefit from ballistic speed)

This build turned me into a believer of the LBX.

Just a note concerning Civil War tech and this build: whereas the torso-mounted LBX10s don't allow for a LightEngine, you can swap the armor to LightFerro for an extra 0.75 tons. This gives you an extra half-ton of ammo and some armor, or a full ton of ammo if you drop some armor; either way, it's a minor change but one worth making for the small C-Bill price.

I need to brush up on the give and take of the new tech. Haven't played seriously in quite a while... That being said this is usually my go-to mech for pug drops... The extra ammo would be a warm welcome indeed.

Still excelent even after a couple of years: hitboxes and a dead side provide additional protection when brawling or approaching a target (shoot, expose left side only by torso twisting to the right, repeat).

With solaris and once fully skilled, it's one of the best mechs you could ask for: you can solo kill bigger mechs without too many problems.

    5/5,
Probably the most noob-friendly build there is. Survivability is great when the survival tree is skilled up and the damage output is good. Got my Bad Company title in this in one of my first games with it. Three kills and finished the match with 17% of my poor mech left.

    5/5,
Yep, solid build. My MAD-3R(S) got the 3xRAC2 loadout, my standard MAD-3R got this loadout. I think the 3xRAC2 is a bit more intimidating, but this is also a solid build.

    5/5,
After all this time, it's still the best build for the Marauder 3R.

Damage output could not be great (after all, there are variants with better DPS, like the 3xRAC2), but the combination of tank, dead side torso, crazy amount of ammo (~130 shots) and low heat generated from the dual LBX10 makes this mech a perfect combination for carrying the whole team.
    • Incredible hell tank: with a proper skill tree (click here), this mech can tank like an assault. No kidding, you can achieve 90+ HPs on both front armor and structure for a total of ~180 HPs. Most annihilators can achieve ~210 HPs by skilling into the left branch of survival (8 armor nodes, 1 structure node).
    • Exploiting asymmetry achieve best results: the left side is your tower shield and ideally it MUST be used to tank the whole incoming damage: NEVER forget that. If your left side torso is gone and enemies will keep hitting it, thanks to damage transfer reduction your CT will receive only ~40% of the total damage, further enhancing this mech survivability. Tanking a whole lance while your friendlies line up shots is not uncommon.
    • LBXs are fire 'n forget (lasers are backup weapons): don't forget you have ~130 LBX rounds AND exposing your right side and CT will leave you vulnerable to pinpoint weapons. Firing only LBXs is absolutely fine because they have no duration (lowest face time) and are your main source of damage. Use lasers only when cool or when you can safely shoot them.
    • Best mech to learn torso twist and shielding: best mech to learn the shoot 'n twist cycle. Why so? Because it's the easiest to do it thanks to both tank and geometry. As I said earlier, DPS is not the main strenght of this mech, but you soaking all the damage instead of your bigger brothers will help your whole team to not feel the pressure and to not lose their more valuable weaponry.
      • Aim for a target
      • Alpha strike / fire LBX
      • shield with left side
      • after half LBX10 reload cycle, twist back to target
      • Repeat cycle by aiming to target
    • Flamer proof: a jelly flamer boat hugs you? No worries, 2xLBX10 are safe to fire even at 90% heat, simply avoid touching at all your lasers and you can laugh your butt off while you keep on hammering your targets' CT with LBXs.

    Examples.

    Group queue: (3 marauders 3R, 2 heavies, 1 medium, 5 lights) VS (8 assaults, 1 heavy, 2 mediums, 1 light)
Despite being undertonnage, we managed to win thanks to coordination between my group (3xMAD-3R with the exact same fit) which tanked / baited the assaults and the fast light team which backstabbed and breaked the focus on us.

Solo queue (actually not a good example about the "I can tank like hell" part)

    Some additional gameplays:

Tourmaline Desert: too brave at the start, some farming, side LRM tanking while focusing on bigger threats. Best and overall most enjoyable gameplay.

Polar highlands: good pokes, a bit too shy, runned out of ammo.

Crimson Strait: best example of dead side tanking, good pokes, loss, stomp on our side.

I've been using this since I heard someone mention it in chat in game a couple of weeks ago. This thing is a monster. Several matches a day I hit over 1k damage, averaging around 600. Had matches running from 2-6 kills regularly. I was running almost the same build, but with a single RAC5 and it ran great, this blows that away. Great build.
