    ORIGINAL POST
    Looks like fun.

While I do have family there (about an hour away) that I could stay with I must go on record as saying that I am a Canadian; I believe that a Canadian Developer should host their official event within Canadian borders and support Canadian businesses rather than taking it south.

Guess that means I won't be attending.

Still, I hope it is a nice event and goes off without a hitch. At least some of the game-play stuff should be fun if we get to see it!

They are probably having it down there so their NGNG employees can have easier access and can cover the event. Yes, I said employees. Those guys used to be legit reps for the community and now they are mouth pieces for PGI.

"We are players guys, and we are one of you so we will cover this event like players would" yet secretly they are paid employees of PGI. Don't believe me? You can hear the annoying guys voice all over official PGI videos. I also think I heard someone mention on an NGNG podcast a while ago that they were now paid contracted employees.

Anyways, I could be wrong and it could all be just because Brian and Russ want to spend our hard earned money taking their families to get a tan in the sun and surf of California while all the bugs still exist in the game like hit detection, ghost heat and more bullshit!

Here is the real deal. I am not 21 years old, and they are serving alcohol at the party. I would be 21 in November, but that would be too late. Sad panda here.

Because a lot of the cost is being differed by vendors, and San Fransico is a Mecca for Games Journalists.

Sure it's free for those invited, but I suspect for the first 2 hours food and punch will be pay only, the DJ's music selection will suck due to poor hit detection and even then be the same 3 songs. At random periods during the party vast portions of the party base should be immediately escorted off premises and 'disconnected' from the party. No one should be able to talk to one another except with written post-it notes and you should stand a chance of being randomly hit in the back when entering and first getting started. And we can't forget that despite the thermostat being set to a comfortable level you just can't shake the feeling that it's too hot in there.

That sounds like an MWO party to me and all my snarkiness.

Am not happy over NGNG being there. The lapdogs are part of the problem.

And while I am not as vocal as most I should go ahead and throw in a vote of support to #saveMWO while I am at it too.

Opinions are great, political platforms are not. That saveMWO stuff straddles the border of both.

Tread careful my friends, tread careful.

Are Opinions not what run a Political Platform? In any case, I really do support the guys at NGNG, as they have a more positive outlook for the game. While this may be affected by Sponsorship give-a-ways, at least it is not the only perspective about this game. Sean Lang is building his own BT game, and may people there stream a lot of MWO, for free. The stream team does not benefit in any way personally from MWO, as they are not paid staff of PGI or IGP or NGNG. So I hope they keep this relationship afloat, as they are the only ones PGI continues week after week to speak to about MWO and other BT topics.

Vergere do you need a spanking? Opinions fuel political platforms yes but so do personal agendas.

Many people have commented, on other sites, and on TS3 etc. that SaveMWO is a political agenda; a power-play made by those who enjoy that type of thing. Because the saveMWO topic is such a hotbed I would really rather not have it spill over here; whether I agree or disagree with the posturing is beside the point.

I think my post was more towards Jacob specifically; We don't allow that kinda stuff up in 'here! Yes Bombadil does voice over for MWO videos. So what? He isn't in charge of game development, the direction of the game nor all the bugs the game currently suffers. As for Phil, so what he is making another BT game? Big deal.

    Back on track.

MWO is having a launch party! Yay!!!!

The one thing I don't like about there discussion is the fact that they think NGNG is a bad thing. Otherwise it has a few good points many agree with, and I hope they keep the feedback on the game coming.

You already gave me a Soy Spanking the first time we meet, and you know how hard it is to clean the house after that happens.

I just wanted you to define the difference of political platforms and personal agendas. No need for this threat of violence

LOL Vergere, usually I have to pay extra for that kind of treatment. Never look a gift horse and all that :p

In all seriousness, MechSpecs has always been a place where regular folks (regardless of political agenda or faction) can come and shoot the shit. Some people view NGNG as having sold out and become a vehicle for PGI propaganda, some people view saveMWO as a vehicle for Goon posturing where a select few keyboard cowboys can act big and talk big claiming it is for the "better good".

None of that matters here :phear:

MechSpecs is the place that people come to talk about how to make their mechs better, not an extension of any particular agenda. Here it is all about the numbers. The DV8 guys come here and show their stuff, some of the KaoS guys come here and show there stuff I even know a couple of SJR guys who come here (despite our personal differences) because this is where some of the top ranked people come to just be the top ranked people and not aligned to a faction.

Think of this as Valhalla (from the books? on Solaris?). People are respected here because of their skill not because of their banner. I've seen peaceful conversations, and even some advice given, between "mortal enemies" on this site. We can save all the vitriol and toxicity for the official forums ;)
