I really like this build (ER LLaser) and will be using it on maps like Alpine, when we have the ability to choose our theatre of battle. Thanks, Mythweaver.
The ER LLas variant seems to do very little damage in comparison to the MPlas I do not like the SDR-5V lol
I like the ER LLaser as a harrassing weapon, the mobilty of this 'mech with the added range allow you to act as Direct Fire Support, working to keep the enemy's heads down and unable to pinpoint the direction of fire. You may not get the finishing blow very often but your teammates will love your ability to annoy the enemies Direct or Indirect Fire Support elements. I must say though, I can't really confirm my theory anymore..I sold that 'mech! LOL Myth.
This is one of those mechs, like the Jenner K, that just seems a bit inferior to the other variants. Sure it gets an extra module slot, but right now there's nothing that fits there to make up for the loss in firepower.
When I was leveling spiders, I used the ER LL build on the 5K, because machine guns were useless and heavier ballistics were too costly in weight. So I opted for 2 MPLs with this instead, to give myself some variety. Both worked very well, but I had more success with the MPLs, simply because I was usually up close anyway, and they dealt better damage. The ER large works at a significantly longer range, though. And, as mentioned in another thread, dual MPLs on a Spider 5K kind of gives me the same feel as the first-person view of TIE Fighters in Episode IV, so there's always that.
I just can't get behind this build because putting the ERLLas on it just makes it a way crappier version of the 5K, because you can't stick a 5 ton weapon in there without either going XL and/or dropping significant armor. In my mind, the fact that the only hard points are in the CT is a cue to make this a little zombie and stick to the STD engines. It's like a mini-super-shitty CN9-A. In fact, the only redeeming quality of this mech is the fun I have imagining the look of frustration on the face of my enemies as I keep pewing them with my medium lasers even after I've lost a leg, both arms, and both side torsos. Of course, I'm dead about 1 or 2 seconds later and the joke is on me.
