The Wolverine was developed as a fast strike 'Mech. With a top speed of 86.4 km/h and a jumping distance of one hundred and fifty meters, the Wolverine meets the speed requirements for just such a machine. The model has become known for its versatility and is considered a jack of all trades throughout the Inner Sphere. With the same electronics package as the Phoenix Hawk and mobility that allows it to keep up with most medium 'Mechs, the Wolverine is often used for command purposes when working with medium units, in spite of the terrible visibility and cramped cockpit due to the placement of the head-mounted medium laser. The jump jets on the design are prone to failure and, because of this, there are some variants that completely remove them from the design (in favor of more armor or weapons). The Wolverine is one of the Unseen Mech designs. WVR-6R The Wolverine carries a weapons payload that is both versatile and, at the same time, limited by its ammunition dependencies. The primary weapon on board is a GM Whirlwind Autocannon/5. This weapon allows the Wolverine to cause damage to the enemy at respectable ranges. This is backed up for short range work by a Harpoon-6 SRM-6 launcher and a single Magna Mk II Medium Laser. WVR-6K WVR-6K - The 6K Wolverine is similar in many respects to the 6R. The 'Mech carries as its primary weapon a Large Laser with two Medium Lasers and one Small Laser utilized as backup weapons. The 6K also removes the jump jets from the Wolverine, adds two heat sinks, and increases the armor protection by two tons. WVR-7K WVR-7K - Another major upgrade of the Wolverine, the 7K model is also built with an XL Engine for power. The saved weight has allowed the 'Mech to increase and upgrade its arsenal. The primary weapon is a Large Pulse Laser, which is backed up by a Medium and a Small Pulse Laser, as well as two SRM-6 launchers. The 'Mech uses thirteen double heat sinks to dissipate the added heat from the laser arsenal. Additionally, the 7K does have jump jets and can jump up to 150 meters. Sources: PGI, Sarna.net
I think these would make a great jumping zombie. 7K would be great for it especially with a more spread out torso missile hardpoint. You can do it with a 6R also, but it is better used for ballistics I think.
Looking through sarna.net I can't find an appropriate variant for a WVR hero mech or any unique variant in the lore, so I guess PGI will make one up again?
Cream your brains out! http://suprememecha.blogspot.hk/2014/11/review-max-factory-172-block-head.html Max Factory kits. I think their Griffin is much better though. FYI - Correct name for the mech designs, and the battletech ones. Dougram - Shadow Hawk. SUPER LONG GUN and sometimes cape. F4X Ironfoot - Thunderbolt H8/H8RF Roundfacer - Griffin. Can wear hanggliders! One version wears a tracksuit a la Eurtrash. T10B/T10C Blockhead - Wolverine HT128 Bigfoot - Battlemaster. Supposed to have camo tracksuit also. .
This is no Zaku boy! No Zaku! That would be a pretty cool mech though, I DIDN'T WANT MONEY ANYWAYS! And I'd have to repaint it green, for science, unless it's like really fast. The only mech I might want a hero mech of more would be the Black Knight, the Red Reaper has a shield and vicroblade. A vibroblade! Maybe the knight will push PGI into introducing melee weapons.
You only get triple speed if you get horns AND painted red. As for melee, Axeman would be nice, and I would love to go "Shining Finger - Heat End" with the YLW. Hope they would introduce melee weapons too... I want a big atlas with nothing but drills as weapon. Best build ever!
By the way, I tweeted Russ about the possible future availability of both the Phoenix and Sabre packages as all the recent packages will be available forever in the (gift) store. Would love to get the sabre package tbh.
Indeed, the Phoenix package seems to be coming back some time soon since the community has consistently requested it. Of course I had bought my WVRs just prior to hearing that announcement, so there's a bit of facepalm on my part about that. Oh well, it's a hell of a ra my medium, even without the fancier Phoenix paintjob.
Agreed with epikt, they instated the poll to get a go ahead despite their promise and with 2k voters I think were nearing depletion of the voter pool,...
Which is kinda sad. I missed out on the Sabre pack and only played that much during the event to be able to buy them afterwards. I envy all of you +30% CBill WVR-6R and GRF-1N pilots...
I'm sorry Aylek,... the wonderful community has spoken,... (and for political correctness, I do not in any way contest the rights of people to vote contrary to my ideas. But similarly, I hold to my right to express my opinions on that vote )
Indeed. I'd like they released the founder and phoenix packages to purchase, just minus the titles and badges (because I'm proud of my founder badge )(and it kind of make sense for those to be exclusive to the original purchasers). But to be honest I don't really have use the cbill bonus of my phoenix mechs, they're not the variant I use the most.
Blah. It's moot to me whether the P package comes back on sale since I have lost of those mechs anyway. But I feel like they spun the event as 'yeah, expect us to be releasing the Phoenix pack again!', except that they then went for a poll and the answer they got was a no. I'm sure somewhere they mentioned that it was poll dependent, but all the same they gave the impression that the pack would be rereleased - at least that's how I understood it. Oh well
