Recently we revamped the MechSpecs video section as more and more of you guys are submitting videos, which is GREAT! I know I speak for the staff when I say we enjoy watching them! So, how do things work now? It is really simple. Want Game Guides, Tutorials and System Tests? Check Game Guides and Tutorials Want MechSpecs Builds and System Tests? Check MechSpecs Videos Want to view other builds and drops submitted by Registered Users? Check User Featured Videos RULES FOR POSTING VIDEOS: If you want to post a combat drop with commentary go right ahead! That would be great! In fact I really enjoy viewing some of these (like Macs Corner type stuff) and I know several of our users enjoy viewing those kinds of things! If you want to post an entire library of "Lets Build it Together" type videos without any realistic reciprocal link back to MechSpecs? Not so great! If you are posting a library of "This is how you do this" or "Lets Build This and That Together" type builds then you MUST use the MechSpecs 10 second video intro at the beginning of EACH video that you post here. We don't allow Traffic Whores up in 'here! Sorry. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask here in this thread.
I have a question, what is a good microphone to get? I don't want to spend more than more than $200 for it.
I've been using a webcam, and it does work well, but FRAPS I think is recording the webcam and windows audio at the same time. I'll see if I can't get it to work. I also have a wireless head set, but I'm going to have to upgrade to the wired one I guess.
I did the webcam microphone for a while (a Microsoft Lifecam) and it was horrible!!!! In fact several people commented on the poor quality of the audio during both my videos and my teamspeak stuff. Spend 65$ and get yourself something that at least works... Listen to the latest videos from me? That is using this mic which is the same mic that Phil from NGNG uses.
Or, you can pick up a Antlion Mod mic and use any headset you like. http://www.modmic.com/ I have two of these and am trying to decide on a good headset. Grown tired of all the crappy gamer headsets out there which does not hold a candle microphone wise to a proper mic. Nor is the quality in the sound so hot either. At the moment, I'm looking at AKG's series.

I love wireless too much to let it go. also, I'm using a C920 Logitech webcam, so It's a good camera, just not that great of a Microphone.
Current: Phenomenal comfort and sound. Previous: Decent, affordable and easy to find. They tend to get uncomfortable after a couple hours. Click either image for more info/specs.
I have a second question, I have some experience editing video's, but am un-able(or un-willing) to purchase a full editing program. what would be a good, free substitute?
Virtualdub is more than enough for basic video editing, slowing down/winding up the speed of video and adding overlay text. And it's opensource and free.
Is there a user submitted guide for creating videos here? Such as special effects, programs and other assorted techy stuff?
