Classic Skirmisher Build with 19 DHS for high Cooling! You can Alpha 3 times without OH on "normal" maps. My trick to get high Scores without Overheating too fast is to combine the ERLLas with MLas Chainfire so to melt Armor continuously and only to Alphabeam, when i have a good Aim on weak components. Weapongroups: 1. ERLLas (Sniping) 2. MLas (Combined) 3. MLas (Chainfire) 4. Alphastrike (Finisher) Alternate "Armor+/XL280" Version: testrun: (1000+ !!!) Blagg
I would run the extra ML in the right arm. Just a personal quirk. Otherwise, a very fast mid range laser mech. 4-5
LOL!!!! Cheers, buddy! I love my Smalls. Great heat to damage. With speed, I can care less about range and I HAAAAAATE overheating. That said, very powerful build. A skilled pilot can still easily manage the heat on them and put out a HUGE burst at first contact, break for cover and return once he's cool. Moreover, you can stay at range with the LL and pick away. I'd take that primary config out any day. OH WHO ARE WE KIDDING?! I live dangerous! AMS? Psh. I should consider it after my CN9 got absolutely demolished by LRMs today. But 9 times outta 10, I can get to cover or break lock. I like my weight to be the most efficient killing power I can find! LIVE ON THE WILD SIDE! I'd take primary, drop AMS, one laser, FF Armor and 1/2 ton of armor, throw all the lasers in the arms and load out DHS. But you've seen me do that a hundred times! I like to try to keep my heat above 35% minimum. Still, for your playstyle, I'm sure you decimate in these builds! I'm too impatient to break away from combat. My own fault. Chatt.
haha... well i like to have very high Burst Damage with these little fragile sub50.tonners while having Maximum possible Speed. Either high Burst Damage (at Mid Range best) for Hit & Run, or go for Sniperbuilds. But Small Lasers at very Close Range?? No thx buddy, too late to get away in most cases. About your version - a good alternative, if your priority is Cool Efficiency!
Like vergere I don't like leaving weapon slots unoccupied :x Made this version, it's still 20 kph faster than the HBK-4P Grimm Variant it was originally based on. Downsides are the use of an XL and that it has 1% heat efficiency and .5 ton of armor less.
I Run the same build but with Ams and bap. I love it. Alpha then run for cover and pop back out and alpha again. I love it. LOVE IT. SPEED! Power! AGILITY!
I can't deal with the near-but-pretty-much-completely-no-symmetry in this mech, or how wide those arms are. I hit the cliff side soooo often trying to snipe with the ERLL! I'm going to try this instead as I'm unimpressed with the 6ML2MPL loadout I currently run (too short ranged) Otherwise probably put 2 ML in the torso, 3 ML in one arm and the ERLL in the other arm.
This video was almost exclusively done with this build, so I figured I could post it here too as a gameplay video: Here is my personal variant, very close to Blagg's original: I traded the ERLLas for a standard laser (mostly for heat issues, but I also see no point of playing long range with this mech), placed all weapons on the arms and made few tweaks on armor repartition (33 points leg armor is still pretty low, but 29 points is just silly!) I also want to thank Blagg. I had given up on the BJ-1X at the time, I was disappointed by the obvious 8 MLas build and actually had sold the chassis, when I saw his post about this build on the 1000+ dmg club. That was inspiring, so I bought the chassis back, and now it has a premium place in my mechbays.
5/5, This mech is awesome, even when I don't play well it stomps. The high pinpoint damage, the range, the good heat management the speed. I like everything about this. First time out With a little experience and some unlocked skills
