Just bought a DRG-1N for a bit of a faster heavy. Bought an XL315 for it's versatility in the mechs I own and here's what I settled on... BAP to increase with my module loadout, good DPS, decent cooling. Could drop BAP for more armor or speed, depending on the engine you've got in your warehouse. Pretty standard build. I'm enjoying it. Sniping with a pair of AC/5s on Alpine has been fun. Chatt.
I really want to like this guy. Mostly its just the chassis im not fond of. hows that huge CT treating you? And how often do your low arms shoot the ground or some such thing trying to snipe? is 90 rounds enough to be an actual efficient sniper with only a/c 5s? and once you lose all your ammo is just Mlasers and SRMs enough to stop them from destroying that huge CT when you can no longer stay at range? It just feels like a brawler build in the end and this mech is a HORRIBLE brawler mech. 3/5 just because i like the name.
Low arms, not so much an issue. Deathtrap of a chassis? A little. The ammo hasn't been much of an issue, but, like you said, not the greatest chassis. Not sure if I'll be keeping it or not. It's fun to be a quicker heavy, just not fun to be so squishy. Counter to my usual stance, in this case, speed is not survivability in this mech.
My Mod with more Ammo: Testrun: definitely a fun.build! I fire the AC5s combined, so i have an AC10 with 120 bullets!!! Most games i go empty with the bullets, but still there are some backupweapons..
