Hi, im looking for detailed Benchmarking Tests for MWO (CPU+GPU), but cant find any. The reason is, that i want to upgrade my PC-System soon for a smoother gameplay and more graphic details. But i need some info to check up which components to combine. Does anybody have some viable sources? If yes, pls post here. I think, thats useful for all the players, who are planning to upgrade as well. Thx in advance Blagg
yeah but i wanted a full list of CPUs + GPUs benched on MWO so i can see which combos are best at performance/price for me..
Well, this is a bit tough to read for most of us (unless you are able to read cyrillic) but the graphs are telling a lot: http://gamegpu.ru/mmorpg-/-onlayn-igry/mechwarrior-online-test-gpu.html
wow thx!!! exactly what i was looking for! The HD7870 looks great! ammm... need a quadcore.. damn! soo xpensive
No problem, it's a common question for me. I'm one of four forumleaders on Swedens largest techsite (www.sweclockers.com), we get questions all the time about benchmarks and what's the best setup etc. Searching for benchmarks, meh, often done. Bear in mind, I do not know from when these benches were taken. I see no dates in the article but the earliest post is from Dec 2012. There has been a lot of changes since then to MwO.
True but the relative span between the different hardware should be about the same. If you want new benches, I'm afraid you'll have to wait until the game is released. That's typically when a baseline is set and many game reviewers and hardware retailers bench to inform the crowds what deluxe hardware they need. I'm a a bit extreme myself on that front.
If you're going to upgrade, might as well go for broke or at least close to it. I'm going to be assembling a system in late September or early October. It will have: Intel i7-4770K ASUS or Asrock Z87 mainboard 16GB RAM (1866 or 2133) EVGA 780 SuperClocked w/ ACX cooler 256GB or larger SSD depending on price The minimum I'd recommend for gaming longevity: Intel i5-4670K Z87 mainboard 8GB 1600 RAM Nvidia GTX 770 GPU Don't really need more than 8GB of RAM for the next few years. Faster RAM will give slightly better game performance. Don't need an SSD, as they only accelerate game load times and level loading times. Just make sure you get a good quality fast hard drive like a WD Black or Seagate Barracuda. Also, some people will recommend SLI or CrossFire. I don't, simply because they don't have profiles for a lot of games, and some games actually lose performance with SLI/CF. I always recommend people get the single biggest, baddest GPU they can afford for gaming. Edit: One more thing ... Those benchmarks (except the CPU graphs) were done on a six-core CPU overclocked to 4.8GHz. That's a pretty beastly system. Take that into consideration when comparing the relative performance of the GPUs listed. If you can only afford a few hundred dollars, get the best GPU you can. That will have the most impact with most games. Hopefully, you can do better than a 7870.
I run this and get between 50-60 FPS on MWO on VERY HIGH settings... Usually its 60FPS solid but some maps, when fully populated, tend to bring down the FPS to around 50 and then bounce back up.... This was build a year ago for around $1300.00 All Inclusive. You can probably put this together now for less than 1000.00. Very true, I noticed that it was a hexacore but forgot to mention it. The CPU does have a large effect on MwO, look at the second to last graph and you'll see the jump the FPS does when the 3930k CPU is used.
Yeah I really would like to pay hundreds or even thousands of bucks for hardware, but my wife would kill me then.. lol
Christmas is coming and it's time for me to buy some new Hardware Upgrades to make a better experience with MWO. But still don't know what i should buy. Any suggestions? My Oldie Machine: Pentium Dualcore @2,8GHz (Socket 1155) RAM: 4GB GFX: Radeon HD7770 OS: Win7 I want to spend up to 500 bucks for upgrades - not much, but my wife would kill me. Questions: I heard that MWO is running better with multiple cores - the more the better. So is it worth to go for a Hexacore? I want to run a GFX, which is best at Performance/Efficiency/Price Ratio. That's why i bought the HD7770 one year ago. But MWO runs better on Geforce-Cards.. Which Card from Nvidia is worth the price. Is it worth to run MWO on Win8? Is it better to buy a complete new machine for the money, on a newer CPU-Socket? Or even AMD? Are there newer Benchmarks for MWO since Launch? Couldn't find any until now.. Ok, thx for any replies. Blagg
There is way way around that, don't let her find out I once bought a camera that looked the same as one i already had (next model) and didn't tell her. Got away with it for well over a year. Of course when she did work it out it was a little icy about the house for a day or so. But its all good, just make sure when you pull something like that it is worth the wrath or the war minister. ie. go all out to justify the couch time.
For GPU's, probably the best bang for your buck on the Nvidia side, that would still be a significant upgrade over your 7770, is the Geforce GTX 760, which runs for about $250. As far as upgrading the entire system, I would recommend only doing so if you need to change your CPU socket, and since the LGA 1155 is still in use, I wouldn't upgrade right now. You can get a great CPU for that socket, like the Core i5-3570K for about $200. As you mentioned in your OP, it is impossible to find good benchmarks for this game, so it hard to say whether going to a hexacore is really worth it, though my gut instinct is that 4-cores is good enough for MWO. I would also recommend bumping up to 8 GB of ram if you have room in the budget. Finally, I run MWO on Win8 and it works fine, though definitely not a necessity.

I have a GTX650Ti 2GB, 8GB ram and a i7-2600 and I've never had problems with game performance either, constant 60FPS in most games at near-max settings.
Thx for the feedback. I think i will go for a Core I5 and either a HD7870 or a GTX660. Don't know which of the both is performing better in general (for most games on market). I never spent mor than 200$ for GFX-Cards. But those two seem to be very performant for the relative low price
