A simple design, a light weight sniper with some mid range ability.

ERPPC is used for both the longer range and also ensures damage output while your UAC5 is jammed.

You can also build this with the 3M, just shave the engine and armor a bit to add ECM.

This may be the best thing that's happened to the poor 3C chassis.

Concur. However I'm a cheapskate and I just didn't want to cough up the 200K for FF armor. So I modified your build a bit. Removing the FF armor, the 7 ton ER-PPC was no longer an option, so I replaced it with a large laser. As a consequence it runs cooler, too.

    Laser alternate:

This is the build I've been running and it's definately nice. It performs better than my Espada build, and it has what I tried to create with the Rapier: Solid laser power to deal with armor and ballistic firepower to blow the thing up. Compared to my Rapier the larger Laser/ER-PPC performs better than the MPLAS, and it's faster, with a tad more armor.
I'm not sure how well it would perform on a hot map like Therma or Crystal (with the ER-PPC). I didn't have any problem with the Laser on Therma.
    So I'll give it a 4-star.

Well, post nerf it is a bit hot, but acceptable. UAC5 is not really hot at all, and the PPC is meant to fire in conjunction with the jam.

You mean you don't go alpha-alpha-alpha ? What a strange and surprising concept ... ;)

I am currently leveling CDAs because of the 2x-EP-weekend. This build was an absolute blast to play!

I think a little more speed is welcome, though a UAC5 is certainly scarier in bursts!

    • ER-PPC Heat Generation -25%
    • Energy Weapon Heat Generation -25%
    • ER-PPC Cooldown +12.5%
    • Energy Weapon Cooldown +12.5%
    • ER-PPC Range +12.5%
    • Energy Weapon Range +12.5%
    • ER-PPC Velocity +25%
    • Torso Yaw Speed
Looks like a really good build on paper after the ERPPC quirks.
Combine with an AC5 range module and an ERPPC cooldown module to line up their stats a little more:

    ~2.5s ERPPC cooldown
    ~1.7s AC5 cooldown

    ~1312m/s ERPPC velocity
    ~1150m/s AC5 velocity

Was fun when he was an underdog, now this is much better, even with vanilla AC5.

    4/5,
Picked this mech up again and ran it with this build. It works!

It is an exceptional sniper, able to move to good positions and out of bad positions quickly. The heat is excellent for its rate of fire. If this had duel energy slots I'd put two ERPPC's on it and call it the new meta.

That's about the closest a Cicada can get, but that heat and no velocity bonus! I think a duel ERPPC 2B would not work to well for me. Since their velocity was nerfed I've hated PPC's and I've never liked that they're heat hogs. The quirks on the 3C fixed that for me and for the moment make it the mech I most enjoy playing.

    5/5,
Loving this build! I just finished eliting the 3C with this build and had a blast with it. I haven't been able to overheat it, even on hot maps. I never thought that I'd like Cicadas, but after playing this one, I will always have a place in my garage for one.
