When using this build, I tend to play under the mindset i'm flying an Apache gunship.

Stay back, use your power to mow the enemy down, but don't get in direct fire. Use terrain and angles to your advantage and lay waste with your 30mm cannon :p

I've downgraded my rating to 4/5 since the nerf killed the UAC5.

Yeah I put mine at 3 stars because the UAC5 is sub optimal now. It is better to have 3x AC5 as you could add more ammo or another MLas or even upgrade your engine for a bit of speed now rather than have a UAC5 with the same rate of fire as the AC5. Gone are the days of the chainsaw!

This build is still fantastic, at least in my mind; the low heat; the good fire rate, speed and plenty of ammo.

I agree it is still a really really good build but it doesn't walk on water now LOL

I use a similar build with the same engine except I use 3 medium lasers instead and get over 1000 damage in most games.

Sadly, if you don't have parts laying around, it takes money. I still bust out the UAC5 build once in a while and use my updated macro for the Fire Select Toggle switch but you can also have some fun with the 3x AC5 and no jam worries.

yepp, still viable and powerful! Although the AC5 never jams, with UAC5s you can make some double-tap/fire shots for insane rapid Burstshots before the jam comes. I don't use Macros for my Mouse, but i simulate this effect by combine-firing Chainfire (WG1) with Groupfire (WG2).

Sometimes these Rapidshots (on weakpoints) can secure fast Kills, or Hits at distant Targets, which try to fall back into cover, where the AC5 version is somehow slower and weaker at Burstattacks. Therefor you get more free tonnage for more Ammo or other stuffs. It's up to you. Personally i still prefer the classic UAC5.Version. I run Triple AC5s on the CTF-4X, where you cannot load Triple UAC5s due to Critslot-Limitations on the Arms.

Here some recent games with Triple-UAC5:

(the Enemy IM ran Triple-UAC5 as well!)

yesterday i played also my ILYA back with almost the same build as Blagg to really judge if UAC5 are so bad..

Not at all. But the most important thing to say again, it is how you must clic and play.

ILYA is done for shooting your uac5 toghether, but in a serie of clic, like double tape to almost do instantly 30 dmg.

then medium + an other double clic, and you have almost 75 dmg in the best case.

playing this build welll need to find the right "rhythm" with your clic.

Some friends and myself like to all run this build when we 4 man, only difference is we all have 3 MedLas and the three UAC5. We got so brazen doing this the other day because we could focus fire fresh Assault Mechs down so fast that being defensive just wasn't an option.

Really recommend grouping your UAC's on your arms together chained with your 3rd on your right click and your third firing group being your MedLas. The way I was taught this build is to only switch to the Meds when you jam, till then daka daka daka daka.

So I bought the Ilya today with it being on sale and all, and holy crap does this build tear mechs apart. I had plenty of big damage games, but what I find incredible is that I am averaging over 700.

I haven't bothered with chain fire or macros at all. I just put all the cannons on left click, all the lasers on right, and hold both down as soon as I line up a shot. The lasers are a significant part of your damage output so I disagree with the practice of saving them until you are jammed. By that time the lasers will have recycled anyway, and its not like this mech runs hot. Arm lock is important to be able to put all the rounds in the same spot

Wait till you start hitting 1000+ in it.... very gratifying to say the least. Go up against assault mechs, and let them just soak that damage.

I've found a surprisingly effective grouping for this build...have all your ACs in two groups, one set to chainfire, the other to groupfire. Toggle a couple of single shots with the chain, then mash down on the group button. Not sure what the actual rate of fire is, but the resulting stream of bullets looks almost like footage from an AC-130 gunship, at least until the jamming starts...

As far as the tactics, hit and run as with any heavy, though I have been known to make relatively suicidal runs at assaults to take them off the board, getting into a good position and wailing on them for as long as possible, hopefully until they drop.

whoever gives only 4 or 3 stars here i dont know whats wrong, this build is amazing

    i run this:

if you run it with radar deprivation feel free to remove ams if you're sure you can handle it and add another 1.5(2 with some leg armor removal) tons of ammo for more devastation

    5/5,
Still one of the Reasons to get this Hero. It's so logical, easy to use, powerful at dps and range, and awesomely fun to play.
