Superiority 1.0: The main problem with the Misery is the same with the Atlas, everyone aims at the AC wielding torso. How to get around this? Superiority. You mount 2 PPC's on the right arm and you mount all the external DHS on the right. You mount the AC 10 and you add 2 ML to the left arm and add 1 ML in the center. Now if you loose your Left Torso, you can hang back and snipe with 2 PPC's with all of your DHS OR if you loose your Right Torso, you are now a brawler and can close and pepper them with AC/10 + ML. Superiority 2.0 With the nerf to the AC/10 for speed and the added range to LPL's, if you want to go to a more close range higher damage output build, drop the PPC's and add in LPL's you've got a bit of an armor chewer as long as you can aim. And again, if they take out your AC's side, you sill have got 2 LPL and 1 MPL to do focused damage.
I really like this build, I much prefer the PPCs over lasers as I've found that lasers were causing me to expose my torsos too much. I tried using an AC20 with PPCs first but found the convergence was terrible because of the differing projectile speeds. The AC10 / PPC combo is great, I use that at range then switch to MLs + AC10 when someone gets inside my PPC range, or just the AC10 on it's own if it's too hot. I've added a few tweaks of my own: With the DHS in the ballistic torso I seem to be able to keep my AC a little longer, plus the extra 15 rounds of AC10 ammo is really useful for damage when it's too hot to fire the PPCs. I've also added AMS for extra protection.
I prefer the AC20, 2PPC version, however I can see this working well. You are better off with everything all on the same side and using the right side as a giant shield. I also adjust ammo and armour placement.
I like the build, I think your point about splitting up the PPC's and the AC10 on opposite sides is pretty good. I have finished multiple games now with half a mech and still dealing out good damage at the end. I had back to back 800+ damage multiple kill games with it last night and was really happy with its performance. I think tonight I'm going to try it with ER's instead and see if the heat is manageable. It seems like I drop in Alpine every other match so I could use the range.
It's a good idea in theory to use your right side as a giant shield, but the ballistic torso is the first thing people go for on a Misery. Once you lose that torso all you have is 3 lasers... makes for a sad Misery
I'm interested to see how you go. I find the regular PPCs are pretty damn hot, I've tried 2 ERPPCs on other chassis and found them super hot. Perhaps go with 1 ERPPC and 1 regular?
Ya the 2 ER's were a bit to warm, of course without fail as soon as you equip them you will drop in nothing but hot maps as well. I didn't do 2 bad but I had to switch to chain firing them, I quickly went back the regulars.
Was running the AC/20 + PPC build up until now, but I think I like this more, especially with the increased range of the AC/10. Nice.
Personaly I love this build, it adds more versatility than the standard ac20+3LL build and as you said is superior I love how they always go for my ac10 just to realise I still have firepower left
I really like this build. I'll try it out tonight. I've been running an LBX-10 but I think I'd much prefer the AC10 with its range.
XL'd it, upped the lasers from M to L. "Wannabe Warhawk!" I'm not saying it's a good idea, but in a passive Solo Queue round, you can try and keep your DPS while exposed closer to the maximum of 15, then disengage and cool down.
