Playstyle? Read the lyrics! "I was born in a cross-fire hurricane And I howled at my ma in the driving rain, But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas! But it's all right. Im jumpin jack flash, Its a gas! gas! gas! I was raised by a toothless, bearded hag, I was schooled with a strap right across my back, But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas! But it's all right, Im jumpin jack flash, Its a gas! gas! gas! I was drowned, I was washed up and left for dead. I fell down to my feet and I saw they bled. I frowned at the crumbs of a crust of bread. Yeah, yeah, yeah I was crowned with a spike right thru my head. But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas! But it's all right, Im jumpin jack flash, Its a gas! gas! gas! Jumping jack flash, it's a gas Jumping jack flash, it's a gas Jumping jack flash, it's a gas Jumping jack flash, it's a gas Jumping jack flash"
I run this without the SRMs so I can mount a STD engine, which in my opinion is great on the relatively slow and tanky thunderbolt, especially with it's pretty sizeable side torsos. Then again, 2 SRM4s might just be the burst you need. and should definitely not be neglected. you can run it with an STD300 as well at the expense of 4 DHS.
After an evening of LPL experiments (VTR-9B with 2x LPL, 2x UAC, ON1-K with 4x LPL) I tried a TDR-9SE for my last bit of fun... WOW! The speed, agility of Jump Jets, and the only one of the three I ran with a STD engine. It was a blast! The Victor by far out damaged the other two, the Orion was just shredding pieces off from mechs, but, the speed and survivability of this TDR was a highlight. I ran with a STD300, 15DHS and all energy. Chatt.
I'm tempted to try that faster hotter version Chatt, but on the other hand I'm enjoying the 45% HE a lot!
LOL No doubt! The heat can be a little high on the SE I posted, but, I was just coming out of 5-6 matches in a 4x LPL Orion, (Which, BTW, is friggin' awesome) so, I was used to EXTREME heat management. I just keep a secondary group of each weapons system on chainfire and make sure to leave myself an egress route and use my speed to cooldown.
Alternate w/o FF armor (and lowered armor values) and only one JJ. A single JJ is plenty for terrain and quick turns in combat. You won't be peaking over much cover, but, you can certainly twist around in combat much faster to score your shots and spread damage. Gives you 48% heat efficiency when elited and plenty of speed... I'll try this out a bit tonight before UMAD practice. Chatt.
Damn, I missed this post. I don't care about the build, I give five stars for the name! One of my favourite Rolling Stones song edit: I'd trade a JJ for a third ton of ammo.
Trade away jets on Jumpin' Jack Flash? Sacriliege! But probably a smart thing, I like the alt versions and the cooler variants. I have found my main useage of the SRMs are on maps like Manifold where you can poptart some missiles or to make someone back up. It's a nice Alpha vs DPS conundrum, isn't it? Burst or drill.
Remember when SRMs actually registered??? Ahhh... those were the days! I've been so frustrated lately, I've pulled my SRMs from every build and rarely even play Kintaros or Centurions anymore for that reason. So, I ran sans missile and with a Standard engine. Felt better in my own mind (even if it's just a personal frustration w/ SRMs) However, if your SRMs are landing, that alpha is absolutely terrifying!
I'm still only seeing about ~50% damage at best. I have had several times where I am behind a mech which is standing still and ripped off 18-24 SRMs only to see a few backplates turn light yellow. Lights are just a joke. I miss the glory days of CN9s and KTOs where if you fired 18+ SRMs someone was getting F***ED UP! I have had a few matches over the last few weeks (continuously testing SRMs waiting for a fix) and it seems that large heavies and assaults that are moving, but, under 100m have the best chance of registering SRM strikes. As I said, immobile targets often get shielded and fast targets which show a hit on my screen, rarely take any damage. My ping is usually below 40, I don't think I should be punished for low latency by giving a lag shield to someone with a 200 ping moving at 150kph.
Cpt, you'll be pleased to know, rumor has it that SRMs will be getting a major hit detection fix tomorrow (29/04/2014). I for one am looking forward to taking my 20 SRM Jgr out for a spin.
I've been running this build for a day or two now, and I love everything about it. The biggest flaw, is that sometimes I feel so powerful I get a little carried away and try to engage too many folks. I seem to think I have the speed/jumping maneuvering ability of a SDR-5V, the Armor of an Atlas, and the survivability of a closed beta Centurion. Of course, whenever I realize that I'm not super 'mech, all goes well.
Was running This with LLas instead. Quite functional also. Although I wish I can have more JJ. You can Trade 1 ton of ammo/JJ for a DHS if you want. The Super simple version for speed and jump. A bit weak in firepower, but moves like a medium.
