    VERY happy with this build!
I'm using a hybridization of the two builds you've offered. Running on the TBR-C CT, but running 3x SRM6+Artemis.
However, with your TBR-S version, most of your weapons were on the right side, so, I did a bit of shifting and got 2 SRM6+A on the LT.
I did sacrifice the JJ to do this, but boosted leg armor a pinch and the shield arm a considerable amount.

    What do you think?

I love trading the 4th SRM for artemis and I've done it with good success to many builds posted here. Another absolutely fantastic tweak from your build is that there is an extra slot for ammo storage in the right torso. The reason that is exciting to me is that I think the greatest weakness to this build is due to the way MWO consumes ammo. It uses all of the ammo from one location before it moves on to the next in priority. This causes all of the ammo in the right torso to be used up before the left torso.

The problem being is that I originally tended to use the left torso as the shield torso. However, whenever that torso is blown off, our mech basically becomes weaker than a locust as our LBX and SRM armaments become out of, or very low ammo. I have been quietly combating this by posting counter-intuitive builds that favour putting more SRM ammo in the RT than LBX ammo. It helps a little bit as when I lose the LT I often have some shots of both left as oppose to just LBX. The only real fix is to stop using the left side exclusively as a shield and to spread damage on both sides.

So, I've been mulling over your build for a few days and really only have one complaint: Using both S torsos cause the 3xSRM to unnecessarily have an extra 5% cooldown added to it. That said, I don't know how to fix it while keeping the better ammo distribution from your build. This is the best I could do:

It can be rough getting the balance just right. Though, I will say this: If you are twisting your torso to spread damage evenly, you are more likely to retain BOTH torsos longer than you normally would when losing the shield side. Though I still see your point.
An added note, keep in mind that that small 5% cooldown increase, means that your heat gets a tad more time to cool down for the next alpha strike!

Now, I will toss this one at you. After some debate with Clan Mates, and some testing in Testing Grounds with and w/o Artemis, I decided to slim down from the Artemis, as I wasn't seeing a significant difference in Testing (Granted, my target was not mobile, so, that could have held a greater difference than I currently realize).

    Breakdown of Changes:
    • - Sacrificed Artemis
    • - Shaved a half-ton of Armor
    • - Added half-ton LB20-X ammo
    • - Added 3 Jump Jets
Of course, you could always swap one or two JJ for additional ammo or perhaps a bit more armor if you felt necessary.

Now, I decided to make this change because I was finding that the mobility was almost a MUST have on some maps. Not only could the JJ save your legs from potential fall damage, but they can allow you to get to places a tad easier than w/o them. And in all honesty, it still retains the strength of the build :D

    Thoughts again? lol

I think using quirks to force heat discipline is a bad idea. It lowers your maximal DPS in trouble situations and is a poor aid nor a replacement for watching your heat. The S torsos also come with other nasty quirks. Torso turn rate (yaw) is decreased by 7.5% per S torso. The Left/Right S torso increases overheat damage taken by 3%/7% as well. If its possible to not use both S torsos while maintaining the same loadout, theres no reason not to.

Hence, I would use the S right torso and the Prime left torso for dropping one of the SRM6 launchers. As an added bonus, you could get a third torso-mounted ERML. It would look something like this:

If you wanted your original loadout with the 3rd JJ, switch to the S variant.

    Good hunting!

Here is the modified version of it I came up with this afternoon while fooling around.
Basically switches the 4xSRM6 for 4xSRM4.

First run with it. I knew it went well when I ran out of ammo with a minute to go and still got 2 more kills with the mediums. But when the final number came up I was pretty surprised. No consumables used and I took a lot of long range LBX20 shots being that it was on alpine.

    Sweet, nice game!

One small tweak I would make is to move a ton of SRM ammo to the RT, the second JJ to the CT and the DHS to the LT. It will be good crit padding. Also, you ideally want to load as much ammo into the RT as possible as it is used up first. That way if you lose your LT, you have more left over and if you lose your RT chances are you've shot most of it already. It drives my OCD tendencies mad that the jump jets aren't symmetrical, but its better for ammo loss and crit padding the vulnerable torsos. :phear:

I love your tweak for not having to sacrifice some armor out of the shield arm. While I was shifting your ammo around, I thought it would be cool to have 4xERML. That would give you back the original 80+ damage alpha. It does make it quite hot though, but if you mostly used the SRMs and the ERML mutually exclusively, it should do quite well.

Pre-emptive post-patch build where the S torso will have the jump jets hard mounted.

    5/5,
Great close range firepower, completely sick with the TBR mobility. Even after the S-Torso nerf, this thing still brawls like a champion. Definitely a 5/5, and the OP could use an update.

This has been such an awesome build for a while, but it does indeed need to be updated.

The easiest change I see is to drop down to 3x cSRM6 and add a 3rd cERML. This allows the design to remain at 2x JJs by only using one S variant ST. This build would run awfully hot, and its sole DHS is on a lightly shielded arm (though I did move 1/2 a ton of armor there in this variant).

It could probably use more ammo, too, but it already has a dangerous amount in the LT. The fixed JJ change did seem to take a lot of the elegance away from the original build. However, with 3x cERML, one could save their SRMs for wide open shots and alphas.

Yeah, I would say she's still a viable build:

I apologize if I somehow misread your post, but how do you fit all of that stuff in your original smurfy link on the mech? This is my very first clan mech and from your build, here is my first build. Mech isn't even basic'ed yet, FYI. Thanks!

You can't, one of the patches changed the TBR-S side torsos to have fixed JJ. Drop one cSRM, add cERMLAS and everything will be fine.

Why do a lot of the builds in the thread come up over tonnage?
    79 tons 78 tons.
I can't build the 1st mech in this thread in reality.

PGI changed the JJ on the TBR. That may have something to to with it.

So, where is the updated build? I've been putting buying an LBX20 because it cost a bunch, but now I have one left over from my Kodiak.

Built this and played this morning before I even knew this thread existed, just loved the LBX20 build for my Mad Dog, but I tried using ERMLs and found it wanting for range poking so I go with this.

First round I got range killed by a pack of Kodiak's dakka-ing everywhere but 2nd match I got 8 kills with 980 damage, screen cap isn't on my phone so I'll update it with that later.

i use a close variant of this mech ( not a seperate thread worthy i think)

    i use 4srm 6's and 4 medium lasers

runs pretty hot but i love the *thumb* the srms give when shot together

alpha strike of 76 i believe and amazing dmg in close range

will make a smurfy build one of these days to post here i'm at work now and smurfy is blocked

Wow, either you have a lot of MechWarriors at work, or you've been doing a lot of tinkering ;D
