Hang back with the assaults and rip your targets to pieces at range. The 15 heat ERPPC could be replaced with an ERLLas if you prefer lasers and want more ammo and less heat, or with a regular PPC if you prefer PPCs but want less heat.
This is a very good build, universal between the 5M and 2H. 500-700+ damage with 2-3+ kills is quite common. I'm running my own variant, but it's pretty much similar: I don't get why it's rated 4/5. It's a solid build.
I run much the same. Bigger engine allows you to go a bit faster to re-position and twist. Not sure there's much of a difference, I just don't own a XL 255. I tend to hide, jump, and twist more than use my shield arm, so stripping that doesn't hurt as much. Playing this more since the AC/20-PPC desync on my 2D2. Always put out a decent amount of damage, and get at least a kill or two. A great example of why the SHD is a such a versatile medium.
First post here, hopefully I linked it correctly. I find the extra jump jet and extra ton of ammo very useful. Good build to bring the tonnage down but support heavier mechs. Edit: Messing up the link, will read up on again. Will check over the faq's again, basically stripping the left arm to 18 armor, head to 14, each leg at 46, adding an extra ton of ac/5 and another jumpjet.

I tried this one out as the Champion, and I must say I like it. I run the PPC instead of the ERPPC though. Thanks!
I just switched to this on my 5M and looked for the build there...well, it is here on the 2H, and as mentioned above it can be used on either chassis. 5/5 for me with the PPC & XL280, 4.5/5 if using the ER PPC b/c it is too hot (barely)!
