DHS with XL200 SHS with XL225 High noon in the street Hands at her hips, hat tipped, *clink*... That Western swagger ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Really, has no one tried this?! That beastly cooldown... and look at the range! ~14.3 DPS with the AC5 cd module, no skills, never overheats. Will test in combat later today, with range and cd modules for the AC5! =D
I tried something similar with a larger engine but didn't like the lack of ammo so I've dropped it 210 and am trying again tonight. After that I may go as low as 190. Here's hoping it turns out to be little monster. Lets compare notes and any good screenshots later.
So I went 190 (xl of course) and it was pretty intense when I got going. I feel like I'm back in my dakkahawk. It pushed everything back down or killed it if it refused to. I have some video. Not impressive for the kills but for the ability to stared assualts and win. Sassafras sure was as we randomly dropped on the same team that game. I'll post it tomorrow. I have to say it. I like cowgirls
I recommend 4x slas on Blackjacks as they provide much needed emergency short range firepower. This runs fine with a stock 180. The XL variants can't be terribly different. My problem is I am getting extremely cowardly pugs of late who will not flank. They do nothing, we die. I get impatient and push, I die.
Good movie. Now we need hats like team fortress 2 and we are all set. (could you imagine the rage on the official forums ) Also spheroid I like the idea of back up weapons but smalls (though fun) would probably be too short range late in the match with damage on your mech and how slow it is. 2 mediums for better range and same weight would be better. I just us the weight for ammo as I rarely run out of ammo with mine but I have a lot of practice with ammo dependent builds and rarely run out in any of them any more. If i did a good job my team should finish up the stragglers just fine.
Have you played with this mech post-quirkening? Even with 240 shots, it is not infrequent for me to run dry in a match (though usually at the end of a great one!) STD engine is a no-no for this kind of BJ. You need that tonnage for ammo! I *guess* you could take away some ammo for small lasers- but do you really think 4x Smalls will outweigh the 300pt damage potential of 2 tons of AC5 ammo? I do not. My biggest qualm pre-elite is the shoddy maneuverability... =P Otherwise, the Cowgirl is tons of fun, and equally effective at facemelting. =D
Mmmmmmm the face melting... I'm totally playing her again when I get home. I bet two of these could keep a team pinned for a great flanking manuever. Or mix and match with wvr 6r(?) or drg 1n i just love the high mounted arm ac's on these better.
I plan on buying the chassis soon. I theory-crafted this variant mounting a bigger engine: Single heat sinks for the win!
That's genius lets see how fast she heats up that way. I'd hate to take the doubles off if I don't have too since I have another favorite build on her. So please tell us how it goes for you.
Ooooo, awesome Epikt! I was pondering the possibility of SHS shenanigans, but... iz tu lazie. =P I might hafta (am going to) try it out! Thanks for sharing! Can I add your variant to the OP?
Of course! (actually I'd like people do that more often, so that the OPs are kind of a resume of the thread) I bought the mech just after posting my message. Just took it to the training ground for the moment, it looks viable but hot, maybe too much for a comfortable rate of fire (tested on Caustic Valley). No perks unlocked yet, of course. I'm going to field-test it tomorrow, but I'd like your opinion in comparison with the DHS build. Anyway, it would at least make a cheap grinding build (well, if you have an XL225).
First series of drops this afternoon, it saddens me but it was disappointing. I quickly switched to the DHS build to be able to fire at will, but I never felt comfortable (well, keeping dropping against a Lords premade does help ^^). The major issue I had is the mech does not have the armor to take damage in return, which is annoying for a DPS build (I noticed all my Blackjacks are alpha oriented). I'll keep leveling it at least till I unlock fast fire and speed tweak, but currently I see no reason to pick this mech over a DRG-1N.
Personally I would not take test or grind builds into group. Again make sure you only pop out when they are distracted or you can shoot one at a time or two really close together. (Military tactic cutting the pie) but once you get used to it I'm pretty sure we'll see some good numbers from you also since you already have double heatsinks once elited try out the ac20 4 med lasers build too.
Ammo is the nightmare - lets be honest my DRG-1N moves 89.1 KPH has 9 tons of ammo and a quirked backup ERLL on a shoulder hardpoint.....
Yeah that is nice to have but to use that arm you have to be out of cover. Also ammo is not a nightmare (I have not run out in a match yet 40 something rounds left lowest so far) on the xl190 version I run but I am also very used to this play style from my dakkahawk. Don't get me wrong dragons have been on my list for a while even before quirks so I want one for that build too but this is a fire support medium mech that can 1v1 assualts and it excells at it once you get used to it. If tonage limits are important in cw this should be even more attractive. More testing required though since I need to give it some more runs to be sure. Also need to see if hitbox fix from when bj were first released is still borked since i last played.
Yeah, I usually don't. But someone poked me and I couldn't resist And to be honest I have horrible solo experience recently, I don't exactly know why, so I prefer the group queue. I will.
The difference is my rate of fire is significantly faster in the Dragon AND I have a nicely quirked ERLL. I can peep right side with dual AC5 at 50% cooldown bonus (682m opt) or I can peep left side or over hills with my shoulder mounted ERLL whose optimal is what 844m. My max capacity for damage = 9 tons ammo and the ERLL. My chassis carries more armour even before the quirk bonuses and the Dragon's structure gets buffed a lot to counter its huge CT. The only advantage that the BJ-1DC has is a smaller silhouette and the BJ-1 is like a torso waiting for damage. That said... I've been thoroughly enjoying the WVR-6R which is similar to your BJ-1DC. https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/wvr-6r-mini-dragon-2x-ac5-1x-mlas-1x-jj-xl300.7846/ Edit: Take that back the BJ-1DC does have one huge advantage - its very high dual AC5 so it works better on the Bog map.
Actually thats an advantage all maps with good cover especially the kind you can peek over and hills like caustic, tourmaline, pretty much all of them minus forest colony and alpine (yes terrible cover is why they suck). Also the dakka reaches out to 711 opt I think without range mod. I dont have it maybe someone with it could tell us the range with it. But like I said the other two have a lot of cool benefits too and will be picking them up for fun and testing soon too.
The two maps that the BJ is great on are HPG and Bog for the map design. In fairness I love meds like Blackjacks it should be said.
