it's also a very good sales tactics. Make people buy the FS9-A. 4 weeks later nerf it, make them buy the FS9-S.

    I can't even...

Its called FOTM. This is how pgi keeps players buying the same old same old in "new packaging". You will always be chasing moving goal posts.

Sadly its either poor game design or poor implementation of a bad system. Mechs like this will never be static because they will probably never be really balanced.

They have been doing that for a long time now. I remember when the Ilya Muromets went on sale for the first time at the tail end of the UAC5 chainsaw ridiculousness. Then 1-2 weeks later they re-worked UAC5, go figure. Could have been because of the rampant use BECAUSE it went on sale, doesn't really matter though.

Anyway, this thing is definitely not "nerfed" after today. Simple 5% hit to the heat generation quirk so it will run slightly hotter. Very slightly.

It'll be a little less efficient and have to move around more is all.

10% energy heat reduction (new) vs 22.5% heat reduction (soon old numbers) when using SPLas can't be called a nerf?

:banghead: why do you all keep doing this!? It was 15% before (7.5% spl specific + 7.5% general) compared to a 10% general heat generation now. Not really ground breaking enough to call a change a "nerf".
A nerf, by definition, means that something was made as useless as a nerf gun. This thing was barely even tweaked. Definitely still an extremely viable build, NOT a useless nerf gun.

Probably because I misread our latest addition to the site ( .../quirks), which was the best access to the old values for me while on my phone.

I didn't realise it shows the final value of the quirks, contrary to the PGI nomenclature where you need to add the generic quirks on top. My bad, I am sorry for the confusion caused.

Well, 5% off ptobably means I'll have to remove two of my 3 JJs in order to mount another DHS.

And still probably one of the best light mechs (if not THE best).
Actually, I was already using this loadout before the quirks and even then it was brutal.

To be honest, I expected the quirk nerf to be much more important (same fore another made-OP-by-the-quirks, the DRG-1N)

No problem, it's just frustrating seeing everyone and their dog misread that format. I knew it would cause confusion when he chose to add it up that way. Oh well

I don't see this mech being weak, even post-nerf...just means you have to disengage a bit earlier to cool off, like any other light.

In any case, with the Ember and JR7-F both picking up some quirks, if this guy starts struggling, I'll just run them instead. And happily so ;)

Was wolf-packing it again tonight, with Fherot and another friend. So after piloting the FS9-S and the Ember a bit, I brought this guy out for one of the matches. Still rocks . . .

    5/5,
This build is awesome. Here is my second or third match after replacing a surplus 225 with the 295XL. Truly a five star mech.

Hehe Spheroid, I think I saw you play that thing with the old engine once...glad to see you finally got the 295. Whole new ballgame now! Good going.

    Alpine, no sweat.

Final match from last night, in Solo queue on my alt account. I had actually just bought the thing yesterday evening, and was grinding the basics. But even without experience upgrades, this build is just brutal . . .

    Here's the video, as promised:

Yet another great match, on Alpine, in this beautiful little beast . . . sadly, our team lost. But 1000+ damage is always worth recording.

Probably the most OP mech in the game, ton-for-ton and in its weight class.

Utterly terrifying - core's out 100 tonners in 3 volleys. God save you if 2 of these things are coordinated and running wingman against you.

Even worse, I once was in a PUG game where our team was rushed by two of these, and two Locusts, a 1E with 6 SPLs, and a PB with 4 SPLs. With ECM cover and 26 SPLs between them, they massacred 6 people before the rest of their team even caught up...

    5/5,
One of the most fun builds I've played, if there was an assassin in MWO, this is it. Sometime's Isubstitute one DHS for 2 more JJ's for acrobatic action

NARRATION TIME: This build is now a part of history. Sadly, three nerfs hit, students. The Arctic Cheetah came to pass, quickly grabbing the KING OF LIGHTS title. Second, a 5% reduction in heat, lowering general laser heat generation to 5% also surfaced. Lastly... And most sadly... The resize hit. The day of the 35 ton light mech is over. Now... Locusts, Cheetahs, Kit Foxes, and the occasional Jenner IIC or Oxide dominate the Inner Sphere.
