I've been screaming YES YES YES for the past 5 minutes at the top of my lungs. Gonna feel that tomorrow...
I haven't screamed anything... Again, this is Maps and Mechs Online... I honestly think PGI is at a loss on how to evolve this game further than it already is.
Article Here: https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/clan-wave-3-announced.8668/ Super excited for the Cauldron-Born and the Shadow Cat <3 Not gonna lie, would be more excited for more reasons to play the game. I haven't been able to play for a while, but as I'm getting some free time back I'm finding that I don't really feel like playing MWO recently.
Arctic Cheetah had me wondering, but they fixed the two MLX mistakes: The ECM torso has an energy slot, and there are torso weapon options! WOO! Clan Spider isn't DOA
Very curious how MASC is going to be implemented since we were essentially told before that the game engine was sort of at its limit for max speeds right now, but also because of PGI's aversion to things that are going to outright hurt you. Also interesting to see longed for variants, and the early-bird reward being fourth variant. That's a pretty big incentive the way they price things! Also finding myself hoping for real content, though. Their iteration speed and dedication to CW is impressive, and getting VOIP is a big step in the right direction too, but the game needs other game modes as draws still.
Agreed Karl. Without new content, and fleshing out Community Warfare, all MWO will remain is a stagnant Deathmatch with Mechs that you can buy until they run out of TRO or until people catch on and stop paying for them. There has been some improvement within the last year but it has slowed to a crawl the last few months and yet, you can buy new mechs every 3-4 weeks.
I hold out the tiniest shred of hope that they have somehow fixed the max speed issues...if they ever do, it might mean we get the Dasher/Fire Moth (clan Locust) some day. A 20 ton mech that, with MASC, can break 200 KPH. Just imagine running in, firing off a shot, then...
So, I'll have to recant a bit. The Arctic Cheetah will be the fastest light and there are a version with 7 energy points. Could be the lightfighter the clans needed to oppose the Firestarter and Jen K. SHC-B gets a LT ECM. Executioner has a cpl of models that really is going to rip, check the D model. 2 missile and 10 (!) energy.
My personal guess is that it would be if they find a way to re-scale things so the maximum top speed with MASC (like said Dasher) is where current top speeds are, and other speeds scale down off of that. Doing so without busting things or changing the feel of every mech in the game might be tricksy, though, and there may well be other solutions. I think short-magic-tele-hops are more likely though ><;
I'd love to pick up the Shadow cat, but the lack of hard points stemming from PGIs hilarious and thoughtless (read:uncreative) implementation of omnipods means the viability of the chassis will be extremely limited compared to the nova or storm crow. I suppose it will live and die by its applicability to drop decks where the tonnage savings add up. For everyone else: lolno. If I still liked lights I'd pick up a cheetah since it looks competitive. The lack of JJ on the Ebonics mech sounds like boring hill hump fest 2015. Executioner has pitiful free tonnage with overnerfed JJ class. Pass.
