    jesus, random thread revival....

With the introduction of clans and then quirks, I'm sure stats are changing at a fairly good clip depending on how many games you put into a mech to screw with the confidence interval. A lot of mechs I mastered a long time ago and didn't even revisit them until after quirks. So, when you only have 10-30 matches in a mech, your avg damage can look crazy good.

    Couple problems with that metric:

    1) Since the stats page doesn't track things like "Most Damage Dealt" like it does in-game, it doesn't necessarily account for those times when someone yanks a kill away from you, as mentioned. So you can deal perfect pinpoint to someone's CT until they are cherry red, but if someone shoots at that moment, they get the kill.

    2) Things like this weekend's tournament throw off the numbers a bit. I can think of at least 60 kills that I gave away by just legging-and-leaving a mech for this event, so that always distorts things a bit.

    3) Every game you have that's a stomp brings you closer to that 1:1 ratio, so it's not unreasonable that people are seeing averages closer to 1.0 kills per match. Especially if you group queue a lot, you can just have the bad luck to run into games where your team gets no kills, or 1-2 at best.

    4) The damage stat doesn't differentiate strikes, which is all random damage, but rarely gets kills comparatively.

So having a good damage average and lower kill average, especially over a large number of games, isn't really unreasonable. In fact, it's almost expected.

A better metric would be to compare your kills per match to your deaths per match, which gives you a better glance at how you're doing (easy with that plug-in). For instance:

Of course, that just gives you the K/D Ratio, but I would say that it stands as a better metric than tracking avg damage vs kills.

Edit: Also forgot the most important deciding factor, there's no way to archive or reset the stats, so there's no accounting for changing builds or quirks affecting the mech's totals. After all, if you had a ton of matches in Wolverines to master them before quirks, then brought out your 6K post quirks, I would bet that the damage and kills numbers would be very different if you had, say, 100 matches before and after quirks. But that differentiation won't show on the stats page, it's all just lumped together...so your best mech might not be as apparent. Perfect example, my DWF-A has my highest average damage, but it's in the Ghost Walker 8x ERLL build. A lot of the stats for that mech came before ERLLs got their burn time nerf, so it's a less dangerous mech these days as a result...but the amount of 1,000 damage games I got pre-nerf still affects the stats quite a bit. Meanwhile, my DWF-B used to be a "cheesebuild" with 2 Gauss/2 PPC, but now it's set up as a Direstar for lulz...so its average damage has gone way down.

Best Assault for me is BLR-1S with 588 damage per battle, 495 per kill. Its really the only assault i made anything with.

Out of curiosity, what's the average per game on your 1X? :)

I have some doubts about quite a few of these comments. Even my Gargoyle's, the literal worst assault mech in the game without a redeeming quality to their name were running between 1.02 to 1.52 kills a match for me while being leveled. I never used them since they were so awful.

Had to have a giggle at the mention of Direwolves .... seriously? Even a pilot like me that barely uses them and hates their speed can get plenty of kills. No excuses really for a mech with that amount of payload in the hands of an experienced pilot.

In fact I'd say if you're in a 100 ton assault you should be getting plenty of kills from the sheer weight of your firepower - irrespective of whether its laser vomit, ballistics or even LRM's. The ONLY excuse is you were killed in the first say 2 minutes of a match while people were gathering and over time those wash out of the statistics.

For example, I've even used banshees quite a bit in formal tournaments and they work great for farming kills - vomit and ballistic versions. Nice hitboxes and heavy payload. Somehow not very popular.

Coincidentally the deaths per match usually directly relates to the mech you're in, your playstyle (aggressive vs coward) and how many wins you have so not sure it really tells you much at all. I calculate it myself for every mech but its just an amusement stat. Hint it should be low for a fast light as you can disengage at will. If you kill a lot of mechs odds are good your team wins and your death total is less.

Eh, Dire Wolves are easy to get kills in, but they're also easy to kill too (as evidenced by the number of under-200-damage DWFs we see in the Brokeback thread). Personally, I'm far happier about the ratios my lights are getting ;)

I seem to be sitting around the 400 damage mark, not particularly stellar and a little disapointing :(

The most games I have had in an assault mech is currently 69, in the DW-P. But about half of them were in the trial mech as I was trying to figure out if I wanted to drop squillions of cbills on the three chassis.

Another thing to consider is consumables, they do add upp quickly.

I never use them, but sometimes an arty or an airstrike would be handy to avoid getting mobbed. The can work as defensive tool too.

They should really add that to the stat tracking. They already count how many components you destroyed and all that jazz for the achievements, should be stored somewhere.

Not as good as I thought actually, Damage per battle 465, damage per kill 433.

Probably a good idea to track its change over the next few weeks now that the quirks are so great for it ;)

Yeah no consumables in my stats except UAV's... yeah I know I suck but a lot of the formal tournaments I do don't allow artillery/air anyway so i tend not to load them.

No I just don't use artie and airstrikes. Back in the day I used coolant but nowadays I just use UAV's a lot to clue my team in as to enemy locations.

There's pre/post quirk, as well as how other mechs fare compared to a pre/post quirk environment. There's also whether or not you're in a group, and how good that group is. If you were in a standard tryhard steamroll everyone meta 12 man at 7am est, your damage per round would probably drop because you weren't even close to getting a challenge. Conversely, if solo, the PUGs are quite unlikely to do well enough to hold your averages down.
