    5/5,
There are several things to know about this build:

One, it is not for the faint of heart, nor is it a good mech for what I would call the "methodical" player, who is most comfortable sitting in the second line playing support fire. This mech requires a mixture of aggression and situational awareness.

Two, Seismic Sensor is the single best thing you can put on this mech, as it will let you know exactly how, when, and where you can pop out to get a hit.

Three, this mech is, in no way, recommended for newer and less experienced pilots. Those who have had good experience in mechs like the Firestarter A/S, Locust 1E/3M/PB, and Grasshopper using wub-based builds (SPLs and MPLs), however, will find themselves at home with what this Nova can do.

As with any all-short-range mech, it's a question of Risk vs. Reward. The risk is that you will either be caught at long range by a team who uses good positioning, or by teammates who use a camping strategy instead of closing in. When this happens, you will have few (if any) chances to unleash your payload upon the enemy until the match has already been decided. The reward is that, given an aggressive team that pushes, you will find yourself one the position of being one of the nastiest DPS machines in the game up until you lose those arms. Being able to jump means you can poptart and surprise people on maps like HPG, Canyon, and more, plus you can escape in some situations if caught unaware. The Nova also handled the heat pretty well, so unless you are alpha striking nonstop, you can sustain fire during long engagements as well. Run a Cool Shot just in case.

Overall, like other mechs of its type, it is a strong build. But get timid with it, and it will fail you every time.

for my .02 worth, seismic is thee most valuable module there is
light years ahead of any thing else. next would be the 'boost' for it
everything else...m'eh with the exception of advanced sensor one.
testing on various maps shows it works so well feeding data further out and quick, those are the two I take always.
Working on unlocking the 2nd part of siesmic, already unlocked part two of advanced sensor module.
With a TC2 or 3, I often see blinking triangles out 900-1000 meters

I'm going to try the 10 this weekend more. Ran the 12- talk about discipline!
three weapons groups of 4, mouse 3 being 2 left and 2 right

p.s. this is a two coolshot mech, be sure

I don't run Coolshot just cuz I'm lazy and not a fan of consumables, but yeah........

Add a Coolshot and it's gonna be able to handle precisely one "in over its head" 1v1.

I ran this last night against some SRM crows in 3v3 and 4v4 it was able to freeze them down over Citadel......... or, when we played out in open area, took 4 legs to yellow/orange as they closed on me, then teammates mopped it up. Meh. Coolshot would've helped grab another leg.

Only use 2 wep groups; you're a boxer. Left arm, and Right arm.............. Ok, including alpha as the 3rd group and throw in JJing, and then you're more like a MMA fighter.

I moved JJ's to key A, space is target.
I'm thinking more like an octopus in a knife fight :D
had a couple quick battles this morning, and the third key/weapon WILL take some discipline.
I forgot I had it, or cooked myself.
Friday night at the fights will train that in.
this build just pops legs off mediums/lights like right now, and Soooo many STILL put ammo there? dumb dumb dumb

snagged a game after lunch. I MUST get better at using jumpjets, never was much a of poptart
    using the 5x2 build

the other team really only had 2-3 good players, but my side really one only 3...I got shot so much in the back, I backed WAY off for fear of losing my turn..not often your back goes full yellow while your front is intact
Those 9 assists...half could have been secured, but like I said, I wanted to finish the match so I back off.

Don't forget Radar Derp. IMO, it has surpassed Seismic as THE best module...I run the duo on most, if not all mechs.

I haven't played many of my Invasion mechs since leveling them when they dropped. I'm MUCH more of an IS kinda guy... however, this is SO tempting. I wish my unit would change to a clan faction for a few weeks so I could WRECK CW scrubs with this... I played the 12x cSPL Nova to level and it crushed - so, I know the 10x cSPL will be even better with better heat management... damn you guys for tempting me so!

  10. Excellent build. Different play style, very fun.

Probably the perfect balance of ghost heat to alpha for the Nova.

  11. 5/5,
Best short ranged Nova build I have played. Can alpha twice on most maps.

04/07/15 Update notes - Mech has been forced to go slightly assymetrical - 6 in the left hand, 3 in the right hand, and 1 in the right shoulder. The combo is now 6/4 instead of 5/5 between both hands. This is due to the awful quirk pass on the Nova. The mech is still a ***ist, it lost 2.5% heat, a quarter(!) of its torso turn rate... yes these are actual blatant nerfs, even tho the mech was just supposed to get buffed. It now has extra armor so you can turn slower into projectiles and thus still not get much use out of the armor/structure quirk buffs. Oh well, it still wrecks the same way it did before.

Yeah, small pulse builds got the shaft. ER builds stayed the same, they all got more structure and thats all they should have done, leave it how it was and sinply ADD structure, BAM done... Maybe a few specialty things like duration and ERPPC velocity to differentiate them, not what they did... Why the hell would they put a tradeoff for this mech!? They really made min/maxing clan mechs a pain for my ocd.

Mike approached me last night and asked for some feedback about Nova, which I gave to him regarding how the current setup pidgeonholes the mech into generic Mlaservomit on Primearms (which makes the mech generic & obsolete cuz Crow), or poptart sniper on A (which is totally fucking cool). Particularly the torso turn rate nerf and pulse boating he'll revise/reconsider (hopefully).

is it only Mlaser? The quirk says ER laser, so one would think that the er smalls would also get the bonus.

-edit- so it obsoletes Binary but Super Nova and Gemini both get a buff.

The ER builds get just the cool stuff they added, the heat management for ER remains exactly how it was pre-4/7 quirks.

It's still viable, but it's not what it was pre patch. It is what it is - the OP has the updated 'fix' but it's not the same symmetry. Yeah I'm gonna be looking into fixing Gemini, or just bail and do dual quad ML.

You could also do something like 7 medium pulses, mgs, and a crap ton of heat sinks. I don't know how effective it would be but it would have a lot more punch than the crow.

No, MGs are garbage and only drain your survival. The mech is tonnage starved, not worth it imo. I'll update Gemini and post another build this week.

Not sure I agree on some builds as they wirk very well with 12 ersl to create a ridiculously effective finisher in groups but I presume your comments were linked to this build.
