Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai Okay here is a subject that went quiet for a while-calling all Euro/Asian players-how important would 1)Euro servers like Germany be for you Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai 2) localized languages for FIGS and perhaps Russian Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai Basically I would assume anyone from England to the Ukraine and Russian would see huge Ping improvements Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai Basically we have the real concern of MM buckets so it would likely work where players choose NA or Euro or both. Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai Both would mean your willing to play matches on either, for many Euro players they might likely do this since they are use to playing on NA Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai Perhaps even many East Coast NA players would also choose both. Of course besides improving ping rates for many non NA players the hope is Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai That many non NA players that do not play any longer due to high ping would now play MWO. Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai At one point way back in mid 2012 we mentioned we may have a Euro founders program - not sure if that is still of interest to anyone. Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai Would need to be different of course-biggest reason is both the cost of Euro expansion and to see if people actually want Euro servers Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai In short we have a solution to accomplish this now that PGI controls the data centers, but need to determine the value to players and ROI Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai I will write up a command chair post on this subject in the coming week or two if it looks likely. Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai For example your a NA player home "sick" from work one day, you would allow the MM to put you on both NA and Euro servers Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai On the weekend with lots of players online in both regions perhaps more people restrict matching to their region Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai But the hope is that the % of players per server region is displayed like weight class distribution Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai and you can choose servers just as you do game modes, for your next search. -------------------- Russ Bullock @russ_bullock 26. Mai @Kasechemui see previous tweets, MM buckets is the number one concern but players could choose to play on both servers to match current pool Russ Bullock @russ_bullock 26. Mai @Kasechemui again you could choose to play on both Euro and NA servers Russ Bullock @russ_bullock 26. Mai @Kasechemui Yes both - you dont go onto NA or Euro server until the actual match. And players could choose to match on both
This would be really good for everyone, we finally get some hitreg and dont have to lead with our lasers. Aslong as there is the option to select servercluster at will this will be good. Not like World of tanks where they have separate user accounts for there different regions.
Well ironically England isn't bad at 90 ping. Just go a bit further to Germany and you're at 160 though.
As long as I (European player) still can play on US server when I want to, this is a very good news. Now waiting for the official announcement.
I got between 100 and 125 ping from France sometimes i feel it a lot and sometimes not at all ... I m european but i think EU server would be a mistake there is not enough players in Europe ... And American server will lose a lot of ppl too so ... PGI will shoot a bullet in his foot if they do a European server ...
There'll be a floating system where people get matched to different servers according to numbers. Personally I'd opt for Euro as primary, us as secondary.
Hope that we are not forced to stay on different servers due to graphical regions. I rather chill with people here, and would definitely not play if I get stuck with servers that are packed with asian players, their playstyle really annoys me (Saying it as an asian myself). Euro founders program sounds like another way to get Founders mch, probably disappointing to the original founders, but I would love tog et my hands on them.
I'd love servers in Europe if that means nicer ping times, but my concern comes under the heading of 'be careful what you wish for'. Would this slow queues down even more if they were euro only, especially CW? If you couldn't choose to go either Euro or US or a combination of both it could get really bad
I think it all depends on your ISP, as i get better pings than most of my buddies from UK or netherlands, and i'm in the eastern part of Poland. I think that this may have something to do that the main HUB for Europe is in Frankfurt, at least some time ago when we did package trace it showed that both UK and PL packages were sent through Frankfurt, we thought that it would explain similar Ping.
I'm well aware of that. What i meant is that when we did comparison for EU traffic to MWO servers from EU, it seemed that all traffic went through the same site in Frankfurt before going across the big pond.
Yeah I understood want you meant whats strange is I have an average 70 better ping than all the Germans in my German unit (89-90 vs 160) and I live out in the country side in England.
I think I'll be sticking with the US servers to be honest. I'm from the UK and Id rather have a higher ping but be able to communicate with my team. I've run into language barriers (I speak 3 languages btw) too many times during euro primetime and it's very frustrating and excluding. Plus, I don't think segregating what small community we have is a great idea..my friends and I have made many friends from the US and don't fancy being split from them just to have a lower ping. I feel wait times will go up due to groups segregating themselves due to language etc. This can be large groups of people all pulling away from the MM queue....CW as well....... This might actually be a not so good idea.....
Russ Bullock @russ_bullock · 26. Mai Basically we have the real concern of MM buckets so it would likely work where players choose NA or Euro or both. This tells you everything you need to know. They are concerned about splitting off pieces of the pie because the pie just isn't that big.
