Simple design, simple purpose. Last until the brawl and then do massive dmg while supporting the fatties. Bonus points for getting behind the enemy mech.

    Looks good.
Built mine with C-SRM4+a in the torsi. Runs a bit hot but puts out some serious hurt from something this small!
    4/5.

    i run it like this:]
1 ton more ammo is important, as i've run out on it even with 6 tons plenty of times and most of the time get into the last ton

and if anybody doesnt give this build 5 stars i dont know :p

    because:

Agreed. I changed the loadout to drop the cAP for the extra ton ammo as well after I ended up basic'ing it but didn't update the build here. My original thought was that I would die before going through 500 ammo but this adder can take a few hits and more than a few games I needed those extra 4 shots.

I'm not as persuaded by the build - ran it for the chassis until mastered but in so many situations I found myself out of the 270 range - Alpine and Caustic Valley were particularly bad for that. In a setup like Lords were running the other day when everyone was SRM heavy its great as you all push in together but other than that you're forced to work your angles and hit/run as you're so vulnerable to heavy firepower... that or be the one point blank range target for the timberwolves... o_O

You're also gimped against any even half way decent IS light unless you have lance mates to reduce their ability to literally run circles around you.

I suppose that was all a way of saying hug your lance and push with them or hit anyoen that pushed into them. Range is not your friend. ;)

you are in many ways right, the range does indeed restrict you, never run alone

but i dont have much trouble with IS lights to be honest, 1 salvo and a leg goes flying, it does take a bit of practice, but its very well doable, very hard on commando and locust, but they need less hits

to be honest its my fav adder build

See, Caustic is my favorite map for this mech. Sure, you can't do anything while people poptart at the start of the match, but as soon as the brawl starts or you can pick off lone mechs, this mech just wrecks. Granted, it's not going to work against competitive teams, but an adder never will anyway - in pugs, I'm able to wait till the brawl, or at least until the team has the undivided attention of the enemies and then I sneak through a valley to get behind them and easily destroy two mechs before the other enemies even starts to turn around.

I agree with thiak - I enjoy when light comes at me because you'll blow and arm or leg off reasonably quickly. I find I do better (read: quicker) with srms than sweeping lasers on light legs in light vs light combat.

I suppose its a playstyle. I just hate feeling that I can't do anything.

Best match I've had I literally put 3 volleys approx into each mech and got:

Lots of kills and component damage. I was running with a lance so things were going for the scary stuff with me!

    More frequently:

Got legged by my own side ramming in to me then red volleyed my other. As you can see I wasn't happy from my comments but that was the 3rd time that day. Not happened since admittedly but hopefully its because people are more getting used to the idea not to run into your own side.... ;)

Just checked and I'm at 29 games, 418 avg dmg.

I suck at meta builds though, so maybe I'm just the srm-whisperer. Or, I've been running completely solo and beating up on beginners. One of the two. Sorry this build didn't work out for you :(

First stats I've generated since the last solo tournament embarrassingly:

    ADDER ADR-PRIME 35 battles, 32 kills, 1.68 k/d ratio, death chance 54.29%, avge damage/battle 393
    ADDER ADR-A, 27 battles, 32 kills, 2.13 k/d ratio, death chance 55.56%, avge damage/battle 423
    ADDER ADR-D, 33 battles, 33 kills, 1.43 k/d ratio, death chance 69.70%, avge damage/battle 327

Prime is a bit of a red herring though as I changed its setup half way though to match the A (2 CERLL/2CERML).

Clearly my tactics aren't working for this setup so its a case of working out why (patience?, soloing vs pugging?, too little ammo?)... once I've mastered other mechs as I've only finished Nova's/Adder's and am doing Kitfoxes now.

PS: I do run out of ammo in most matches so that's a likely hint!

This build is excellent. Works well in pugs, as long as you avoid getting focused down. I've been running it in groups with my clan, and massed SRMs/Streaks are incredibly frightening. 5/5 for making a somewhat mediocre mech worthwhile.

  15. Great build and lots of fun to play in my opinion.
You will likely run out of ammo, so don't forget that you have a flamer.

I want to get the adder just for this build. I love srms and underated and therefore unoticed mechs. Also reverse and turn in slower mechs. This will allow you to track lights easier and like magic no more light problems. Coincidently this is also the solution for all the assault pilots crying lights op, nerf lights, etc.

So with the Flamer unlocked, should I put SL or extra half ton of ammo (two alpha strikes)? Decisions, decisions... Love the build :)
