With props to Hamburger_Time's 'Ride the Lightning' K2, this is a slower, slightly more heavily armored variant with ERPPC's replacing the standard PPC's and an XL260 instead of the 300. With the tweak it's not horrible, but obviously it's not the 300 either. The tradeoff of course is no range limitation on your alpha and it runs hotter. Also with a little more Gauss ammo (40 rounds) included in this build. Without question the single deadliest heavy I've ever piloted. Like hands down. I sort of feel cheesy using it just because it's so meta at the moment...feels like I'm cheating or something...but it stomps like no other, save maybe a dual AC/20. Uncork a gauss shot between alphas and you'll be good with the heat. Groups are 1PC's/2:Gauss/3:Alpha. Pretty much just use the alpha between gauss shots, trust me. I've been sitting on this one for a while but figured I should share just because I find it so OP. Have Fun! Thanks for reading! All my Cats wear this: Phranken with Ash Grey/Obsidian Black/Crimson - looks like blood spatter I think (particularly appropriate in this case...) Not a regular score by any means, but an example of the capability of this build, even in a loss:
Just a couple of suggestions for alterations. You should always put Gauss ammo next to the gun. It helps to "crit-pad" the gun. If your torso gets hit, there is a chance that something in that torso takes a hit, so the more items that are in the torso, the smaller the chance that the Gauss Rifle itself will take that hit. Also, if you drop the 3 DHS, you can put in an XL300, upgrade to FF armor, drop 3 points of armor from each leg, and still put 2 of those DHS back into the engine. Like so: You lose 1 percentage point of heat management, but you gain a lot of speed.
I'm surprised I don't see this build more often. It's like a mini PPC Misery, with some great cooling efficiency to boot.
My guess would be that people just use the standard 3d jumpsniper instead of an inferior copy. Firebrand might be another good platform for this and with cockpit shake we might see more K2 with this setup.
This is the version that I currently run. This could be a viable option if you wanted AMS. Above average damage match for my K2.
This is a excellent build, I use a XL300 myself and have run this over the past year now and then. Runs a little hot but a sniper is not a machinegunner so he can cool down while relocating or being out of sight. I nailed another K2 with this build on Tourmaline at 8-900 metres or so. Three times, centre torso, means about 75-105 damage. You can certainly make a Atlas pay attention when that double crackle and wham hits him.
Wow great build! If you're looking for a K2 ERPPC build but can't quite get a good one together then try this one out. Even with the recent PPC speed nerf (speed got cut in half) this mech performs very well. That said, if you want to run a mech similar to the meta direwolf (2 ERPPC/2Guass) then this is a great mech!
