rofl i totally agree. The er large & lurm supernova is apparently becoming the archetypal build that makes you question life, rage, laugh, or cry. even the erppc supernovas grind my gears I'd honestly love for more lurmers to start doing this so I can alpha strike them all the way to flavor town
Faction Play events never cease to deliver. Recreated as best I can figure: Wave four - last mech. He did manage to kill an enemy mech that charge him and shutdown from overheat within 90 meters. Also featuring the LRM15 Mist Lynx.
There are times you're left speechless by a mech - this is definitely one of them. Edit: That said I sort of get the brawling idea of the primary weapon but not on a DWF which is clumsy and slow.
Honestly; that Dire Wolf build looks like a Shadow Cat setup with the added ER Smalls. In all honesty; I think that the Dire Wolf is the only mech with the hardpoints and weight to run that loadout; and that just makes it worse. I've got quite a few cringes that I've run into; but they were all pre-new tech; and I don't remember which ones I've shared before; so I'll start fresh and hopefully have some new Tier 3 discoveries soon. EDIT: I was wrong; there's another Clan mech that can run 6xHMGs; but it's just as bad, if not worse, than a Dire Wolf doing it. It's the only Clan heavy mech that can theoretically run six ballistic hardpoints; and still has tonnage to spare with all slots filled. I seriously went through every possible omnipod combination for the Heavies; most of them max out at 5 ballistic hardpoints; so aside for the Shadow Cat and Night Gyr; no mech lighter than the Dire Wolf can run it.
Well I meant the LRM80 SNV.. not even any backup weapon. But yeah the Linebacker build was weird too.
Oh... wow. That's the most painful Linebacker build I have seen for quite some time, and mine aren't all that good.
Totally forgot to screenshot it but I just had one that is so special it deserves memorialising for all time... This is as close as I can get to it: With speed tweak he was 101.6 KPH so potentially that engine was even smaller.
I would probably give the Linebacker the benefit of the doubt there. He may be making a brawl build and using the LRM 5s to avoid ghostheat. Two LRM 5s are a low tonnage and low heat way to add in 10 damage. Plus pick up an assist here or there. Then again, positioning may dictate otherwise.
LRM assaults aren't as cringeworthy if they play smart. You know; stick with the team, get their own targets, share armor... this guy wasn't doing any of that; including running LRMs. His build is passable.... kinda.... but when you spend the ENTIRE Domination game 1500m away from the team trying to snipe; then only come in when you are the only guy left and mop up all the other mechs... why? I especially love that he was 1500m away... where his PPCs are doing reduced damage. This is less of a cringe build and more of a cringe pilot; but... yeaaahhhh....
This is a beauty. I thought the build was fine, and I was only half-way paying attention at any rate. Until he died.
