I've been having some good success using this as a harasser. Started with 2xMPL but I found myself having to get closer to maximize my shots. Not a good idea. With ERML they have nearly the same range as the LPL so I can poke around at range. Typically I'm running off to the side or behind the enemy team and forcing people to turn and acknowledge me. When they do just stealth and cheese it to the next spot. Rinse and repeat.

If your going to do that, which I don’t recommend, at least in this mech.

Do that if you really want to tho

IMHO there is no need for stealth armor: unless you plan to shoot below 270-300 meters, stealth armor added value (impossible to be targeted below 300 meters and preventing UAVs from spotting you) will never kick in... In fact, such build is more suited for raged flanks rather than brawls or quick burst of damage close range. IMHO it is better to fit a bigger engine and focus on quick pokes.

Dual LL and ERML is a thing too:

Still, IMHO wolfhound and grinner are better laser boats compared to any raven build (with and without ECM) due to the fact you have more energy slots available and more torso mounted lasers rather than arms: don't bother with ravens if you are looking for a top notch light laser boat.

This is actually what I adjusted it to after Largot's suggestion for a targeting computer, but I kept stealth armor. The added armor isn't relevant to play style. If I'm taking hits I'm doing it wrong.

I'm not looking for top notch and can't afford a Grinner. This just works for me.

I’m happy that you changed up your design based on mine, but still thinking that you won’t get hit is a bad mentality, even if your doing it right, having more armor is always good, but also I can see speed over armor in a light mech even though they already barely have any anyways.

I'm in favor on max armor on torsoes and legs: a dual heavy gauss in a side torso and you are "back to the mechlab".

That's why on huge lights with poky builds like this one I would rather skill into survivability rather than speed tweak. Acceleration and deceleration will help, maximum speed on a huge chicken probably won't (unless you fit a brawl build, like a huginn SRMs and MGs, but that's a whole another story and build).

I get what you both are saying, but that's just not my play style. I know the Raven isn't a good mech, but I'm always drawn to less played whatever's in games. I thrive on taking people's expectations and turning it on it's head.

That's not always the most effective or efficient but it's the most enjoyable for me.

If you really want to live on an edge by not taking damage at all, then go for full DPS...

Strip armor as you like and see fit. Ferro Fibrous version could be worth it provided you are never gonna brawl.

I actually tried both of these before settling on my build. They're both too slow for my liking, but I did enjoy having the 2xLPL.
