Strengths of the Build: High Alpha Damage, decent speed, maneuverable, great turning ability
Weakness of the Build: Main Arsenal exposed in two big boxes above your head
Strategy: To ambush and pounce on enemy preferably as support to another friendly Mech, or fall on the back of an unsuspecting Mech that just happened to walk past you, while your lurking in a cave, looking for prey

Nice one, im actually thinking on an A1 variant (6 launchers) but im not sure what upgrades or engine to take (ES seems kinda sheep nut might take too many slots).

    What does the CASE do?

According to your build you are using an XL315; doesn't that make C.A.S.E. pointless?

Kinda does ,but still is a boon at least I think so.

I have the same build, but with medium pulses. Much more effective, even if you have to manage heat more closely...

I tried running this sort of build with the stock Heat Sinks and Engine. I was too slow and couldn't fire but a few times without overheating. Not sure that this build is worth the 6million Cbills (more than the cost of the stock 'mech) needed to upgrade it.

However, with those upgrades your heat shouldn't be as bad since DHS will benefit you better for their weight, and the XL engine you'd have in it would allow you to move much faster. Though, I am always skeptical of any 'mech build that excels in close ranged combat while using an XL engine (of course, Catapults have small side torsos, so I suppose they can be an exception).

Well I would agree with you on that one in most cases, but Dragon and Catapult suffer from the big nose syndrome..hence I find center is cored more often than any other part. (meaning maybe once or twice every 20-30 matches you die due to XL component destroyed in one side torso)

I use a similar build on my C4, and I've had pretty good success with it. I've taken out Atlases, Awesomes, and Stalkers 1v1 without much trouble. In one Conquest match, I surprised and one-shot a Raven, then took out his Dragon buddy, and then killed the Atlas that showed up to help him. 4xSRM6 can ruin anyone's day, for sure.

And with all the ECM scouts around, having the shotgun-like effect of the SRMs is a nice scout-counter too.

The problem is, you have to close in pretty much point-blank to do effective damage. I don't have Artemis yet, so I prefer to engage at about 100m or less, to focus the SRMs as much as possible. But that means that you need to be able to get that close without dying, so I stay close to an Assault until we are on the front lines, and then pick my target.

Another nice thing is that with the new economy, you get paid more based on dmg than you used to, and this build is good at getting high raw dmg numbers.

I give this build 4 stars.

I was running a mech very similar to this without the XL engine or the Artemis. It works quite well, but not quite as efficient as the C1 build with 2 Artemis SRM6s and 4 ML IMO. I now have it reconfigured for LRMs.

I have reconfigured my mech to a very similar build. XL305, no case, endosteel, extra armor. Gets 1.22 heat efficiency. Nice mech, based off of your design.

Anyone used this build lately? Is it still viable? I'm looking for my third Kitty and this one looks fun.

This build still looks viable to me but with the XL engine the CASE is wasted space.

I agree with Myth. I'm pretty much running this build without the CASE and more armor. It is viable and quite fun to play. I'm almost always above 500 damage with this build, sometimes up to the 900's if the lasers get used a lot.

CPLT-C4 my adaptation, with the Large laser you got more range + its more heat efficient. And with the armor upgade you're a little harder nut to crack.

I enjoy the OP build with a STD engine. It's almost as effective as an AC20 with an alpha.
