So, anyone wanna hazard a guess on which Victor variants we will get? The 9B is pretty much a given... anyone else guess the others?
9B, 9K and 9S are the 3 non heroic versions that are showing up on Smurfy right now. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#
Always enjoy the sight of a K variant. Even though House Kurita didn't like Victors after the Exodus because they were associated with the Davions. Buuut, after the Clan Invasion and Smoke Jaguar being taken out, s'all good.
Out of the game's data? I haven't seen any official announcement on this, but I already fell in love with the 9S!
Nice, thank you for this sort-of confirmation. The Dragon Slayer seems to be the variant best suited for sniping, but contrary to the HGNs the difference between the Hero and the standard variants seem to be more reasonable. I have to admit that I already fell in love with the 9S, as it can carry an AC20 (as can the 9B) or double UAC5s and seems to be very flexible loadout-wise. PGI also got the 9K right in my eyes for rightfully not allowing triple PPC in it's left arm (same as with the Heavy Metal). Edited for clarity.
If you have (or would get) the Dragon Slayer then the VTR-9K is kinda pointless really. Less weapons, no AC20 support, and no triple PPC. But both 9B and 9S are solid.
I disagree. The hardpoint locations are different and because of that the mechs work differently as well. The Slayer has 2 E hardpoints in the torso which makes it easier to crest a hill and shoot. But if you are using all 3 energy hardpoints the K has them all in the arm for more accurate shooting. Dependent on build one mech will be superior to the other.
I also find it very sad that the only "good" build would be considered having/needing triple PPC... maybe just a personal issue but I sincerely hope that PGI soon culls the pinpoint High Alpha Meta... that said, I intend to get all variants and they will all be different most likely
PGI did say that a patch is coming where firing the same weapon type in groups of 3 or more will damage your internals.
It is in fact 4 or more, as one of the Awesomes comes with 3 PPCs stock and that won't be punished. That aside, there are hopefully more measures to come... anyway, apologies for derailing the thread. As for the Victors: The 9K will make a good "Pepperdoggy Special", look it up in the Dragon forum, with max engine. The 9S might be interesting with dual AC/5s and SRM6s The 9B is an oddball, because making use of all three hardpoints might be tricky, so maybe a skirmisher/flanker with the AC/20 and some SRM4s with LLas and a big engine to boot
