    Bonjour tout le monde !

Everything is in the title. I know it depends on the 'Mech etc but I wanted to discuss the whole idea. What about the whole "30% better gain" deal ? Plus they are pretty cheap and come with engines and stuff. I don't see a lot of discussion about these. I won't hide that I'm thinking about the Jenner one. :D

I've never purchased one. I suppose the XP bonus is nice if you are grinding your way through or want something a little "different" to play but I'm a believer that if you are going to spend the money then get the best.

Champion mech's bonus is only 10%, isn't it?

Anyway, since I don't buy standard variants with MCs and I don't play my hero mechs for the boost (but for the exclusive hardpoint configuration), I find the champion mechs absolutely useless, and not worth it at all.

Some might find the c-bill boost handy.
But the XP boost is useless: if you like the mech you'll have plenty of XP just by having fun; if you don't like it, don't spend real money on it.

(but I like how they make it available as a trial mech)

I knew I had a bad memory. Yeah, I thought Hero 'Mechs were 50% and Champions 30% but it's 30% for Hero (Why did I have in mind that they gave the same bonus that Premium Time ?) so you're pretty much right.
Sure then, if this little boost is the only advantage of these 'Mechs, I totally agree with you two. Guess I'll go for a Hero.

    I would say no.

10% XP bonus, no Cbill bonus. Not enticing at all. XP comes easy anyhow, cbills are the key.

    Go Hero mech. .. ...

In my opinion the champion mechs are typically well priced for what they are, relative to the mechs you can buy with C-bills. That said the bonus does not do you any good unless you spend more MC to convert the XP to GXP. I think it depends on how much money you want to spend on the game, if you are buying normal mechs with MC then you are probably coming out ahead with the champion mechs, if not, you are better off saving up for a hero mech or some premium time. That said the Jenner champion mech is the cheapest way to use MC to directly buy an XL300.

I would rather use a proper Hero Mech if it is for grinding. If I am going to grind mind as well grind with the biggest bonus on BOTH cbills and xp (for GXP conversion during discounts).

But yes, the Buy-a-XL 300 for cheap deal sounds pretty nice, if you don't feel like grinding for the cbills that is. Personally I think that you can get that cash in a couple days with a even a DK easy if you grind for it in a Hero.

That having said, if you are going to buy the non-MC mech with hard cash anyways and there happens to be a champion version, spending a few more MC for it isn't that bad of an idea.

Nope, the XL300 is the first engine I bought (and it was my best move in this game). Sure, with only a 10% boost it stinks. I was tempted because I thought it was 30%. This forum never stops to enlight me (and after 4 years of WoW and LoL forums, it's even more impressive)

Depends on your status in the game. I was impatient and bought a JR7-F(C) when I didn't have much in the terms of C-Bills or mechs/weapons/engines to sell. I just wanted the fastest. (It's my money and I want it nooooowwwww.)

If you have some cash and don't care? Sure. It's fun and costs less than a trip Burger King. Buying multiple? Well... It seems bizzare to pay that much for a video game... But PGI has already gotten plenty of my cash with mech bays, colors/camos and that STUPID PHEONIX PROJECT! (damn them) They're good salesmen.

If you have the cash to spare? Have fun. :D

The only Champion 'mech that's even remotely tempting is (upcoming) Sarah's Jenner.

I'd say these guys dont get enough credit...but at the same time...cost too much money to justify what you are purchasing. I bought the Hunchback and the jenner and i like them both but if i could do it again i wouldnt spend real money on em.

Once you buy em, you are pretty much already looking at what they are going to be doing in mech life. they dont have a lot of variation. and maybe its just me, but the hero jenner isnt any different at all from the jr7-F aside from starting with a different engine and upgrades. All things that can be remedied with c-bills. The hunchback is pretty legit if you like energy weapons and can tolerate losing 90% of your firepower the moment everyone sees you and takes out your RT. and it WILL happen. a LOT. The dragon is also decent but someone else will have to fill you in on him as i sold him after about a week of playing him and never touched another dragon again. their CT is just too damn big for me and i dont like skirting the edges of the fights.

Champion mechs are like Ready-to-wear clothes or prepackaged meals. They are configured and upgraded in such a way that they are good to go on the battlefield right out of the box instead of players having to grind out upgrades such as Double Heatsinks and buying effective non-mishmash weapon loadouts.

The 10% EXP bonus is just an additional small incentive to purchase them. If a player is looking to buy a mech that can fight evenly (Stock mechs ftl) with others (sans efficiencies) then Champion mechs are their thing so that they can experience decent mech combat instantly.

Combat Worthiness of Mech Types (Default config):

    Stock - Hell no!
Hero Mech - Not really (the only exception is probably the X-5 and the Dragon Slayer)
Champion Mech - Yes (unless they release one with a crappy config)
