Just saying Hello to everyone here. I've never really tried MechWarriors, but just recently saw a vid of the game and wow, I'm impressed! And really love how you all participate in bringing it all together on this site. Are you all on the same team in the actual game? Anyways, figured I'd come forth from the shadows of MechSpecs and say "Hi". - Solomon
Hey Solomon, No the members here play for various teams, clans, guilds, whatever you want to call them. In fact many of the people on this site are in-game mortal enemies (Clans versus Inner Sphere, corps versus corps etc). However on MechSpecs there is a perpetual white flag of truce and people come and share ideas, learn from each other and hang out. Thing of this as the United Nations of MWO or at least the very high tech garage for the United Nations. Cheers
Welcome Ghost. We share the love of Battletech and come here to make our builds better, taking and giving advice to anyone who asks. You could say the site is about learning more as a cooperative effort, people do a lot of testing and trials on various builds and ideas. Not to mention our great founder, Michael, who does excellent breakdown videos and indepth video studies of chassis, weapons and more. Get in the game, it's free to start. In the beginning, you will get the cadet bonus to earn C-Bills faster. Try out all the trial mechs before buying your first own mech. Make sure you like the class (light/medium/heavy/assault) as you will be playing that mech for a while before you can afford the second one. Usually people go for three mech variants of the same chassi so they can unlock elite and master level efficiencies (ingame bonus on cooling, turning rate, general operations kinda). Hope to see you out there!
Hello Solomon, Welcome to MechSpecs, I would like to echo Micheal's comments, and also, Here at MechSpecs, we like to discuss the current state of the game, various builds for the mechs of the game, as well as help new players work on their builds. One of our aims here is to foster a positive environment for everyone. As for being on the same team, well, that depends on the game and who you are playing with, it is possible to play games with friends and be on the same team, I have played a number of games with other members of the forums here, including playing against them (And not always winning either.). If you have any questions, please, feel free to ask them.
I had exactly your reaction when I first saw a vid of this game. Then I downloaded it. And it was AWESOME (and still is) !
This is a great place to learn and study up on the game. Lots of ideas get bounced around and discussed in a friendly and civil manner. A ton of mech builds to try out and/or use as ideas for your own builds.
rof, this is just too funny! Thanks guys for all of your input. Seems like there are a lot of things to consider like how you move and what side you get hit on, that affects whether you live or die in the game. Definitely a game worth trying out, even if it is too complicated for me to understand at first. I'm sure it will all come together when actually playing. Will definitely give it a shot when I get a better video card and computer that is more geared towards gameplay. Hopefully you guys will still be here. Cheers
