Hi there, tomorrow the Victors will be available for C-Bill Purchase. Im still unsure how viable this Mech + Variants is. Which one i should go for. Im tending to start with the K or S Variant. It seems to be like a little Brother of the Highlander with better Mobility but less tonnage for same powerful builds. How much better is the Victor compared to a CTF-3D?

What are your thoughts on the Victors?

    - which Variants seem to be more/less viable?
    - which Loadout would you prefer?
    - which Role would you play him?
    - what are the general pros/cons of this Mech?
    - general suggestions?

From looking at their stats and hardpoints, I'm less than thrilled at how similar the two AC/20 versions are.

Other than that, I just haven't seen enough of them in the field (partly my fault) to pass judgement yet.

Bought and played the S model last night. Upgraded to endo and DH. Tore the xl380 out of my AWS-9M and went tear-assing around gaussing and ERLLasing folks. Also ran an A/C 20 brawler version as well. It was a lot of fun with both builds. I enjoy the mech quite a bit. My only real gripe is the arm movement is atrocious. That should improve as I elite it out I presume.

The S model has half of the side-to-side movement of the K - I think its 10 degrees vs 20 like on the Highlander C. I assume the Victor B chassis is also only 10 degrees since it doesn't have the lower actuator.

So far I think its a solid short ranged and faster running Highlander since XLs seem to be OK to use in it. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with the two Highlanders I have in my bay if these replace them...

I gave up on this mech. I invested 25m between the mech, the weapons, the upgrades and the modules to go on it and I sold it less than 24 hours later.

The Victor is a mediocre mech at best; there are other mechs that fill its role better (in the current meta).

Maybe if this was a City fighter with a map like downtown NYC or something it would be cool but I just don't find this mech to wow me.

Yeah, i somehow have the same impressions and i dont know if i need to buy one.. Maybe i will do it, just to up my Mech.Collection. But for any role, there are better Mechs in this Tonnage Class - for Brawling the Atlas, for LRM Boats the Awesome or Stalker, and for an agile Harasser the Highlander. I just cant find an exclusive shining point in this Mech, though in the Concept Art he looks very cool. Ok, there is one - high Movement Speed as an Assault. OK

What i really dont like is the strange Mix of Missile Tubes in the left Sidetorso. You cant really go for an effective triple SRM6 or SRM4 Alpha Volley - a single Volley!

I agree the differences between the 9B/K/S are relatively small. But I've finally found a mech that can carry the AC/20 in the arm (yeah there are others...YLW,...) and can duke it out in a multiple brawls and come out a winnah! I'm trying to decide among the 9B or 9S which one to keep.

Well i somehow have the impression of a bigger Quickdraw with additional ballistic weapon(s).. Not really bad, but also not truelly awesome

See? It is underwhelming at best. I mean yeah it can do a little of everything but aside from its speed nothing makes it stand out with a ZOMG CAN I HAZ?!?!?! Maybe when city maps come out (if they ever do) we will see it come into its element.

man....i guess im the only guy that loves my victor around here. I'm usin a dragon slayer if that makes a difference, but i cant wait to get a different variant.

For brawling i would take a victor over an atlas any day. 90% of the time an atlas cant out-brawl my Dragon Slayer. Im just too damn fast and can get behind and stay behind him. Even the "agile" highlanders dont stand a chance. They are only as agile as a brick. JJ isnt enough for them to win a 1v1 against me. Y? because i have them to, and im faster. Only Stalkers give me trouble due to their large torso twist and general heavier weapon loadout. Honostly though, there's not a single mech out there that if i have to fight i think: "o man, this isnt a good match-up." The DS and the 9S can handle ANY mech.

again, maybe the DS is slightly better than the others or not, idk. Idk if hes even considered apart of this argument but if not he should be. For the first time aside from the ilya do i feel that the DS was actually worth the money. 30% off or not.

On a random side note. I've noticed i dont play like most people here. I dont try to min/max the current meta. I play styles and mechs that i believe will always have a place on the battlefield, regardless of whatever weapon is the most op atm. If i play a mech that is just geared to get kills and use weapons i would have rather not used, its no longer "my" mech.

Point of that ramble was that maybe thats why i like these victors. They are always relevant. No matter map size, they have speed. No matter who you are fighting, you have the power to bring em down. Even 2v1. My "King Gnar" build has long, mid, and short range. I'm capable at all levels, but not overpowered at any 1, nor am i lacking in any area. Can the same be said about an atlas, awesome or highlander? imo, ONLY the stalker can compete with this mech, and id still give the edge to the victors.

I can't comment on the victor's personally. I don't have any of them, but plan to get them. I do have experience fighting them, and they are fearsome. I'm almost more afraid of them than an Atlas at this point, but that's only under 270m. If I can engage in combat outside of that, I have the advantage most of the time. Just my take on them.

The only assaults I have (because I find them slow and boring and generally shoot bigger weapons with longer reload times that makes them even more boring) are STK's and now Victors. I can def say I like playing the victors more than stks if that says anything.

Victors are also the first series of mechs I didn't load a single ppc on any variant. Well, jenners too, but I have almost every other non-assault mech in the game that has ONE variant with ppcs on it. Don't feel I need them with the vic's.

I finally have a Victor I like. I have found that to play the Victor well, for me, is that I have to play it completely different than say a Stalker, Highlander, or Atlas. You can't just straight up and brawl. You have to constantly be moving through, over, and around the enemy and hit them as you go by with as many SRMs and 20 rounds as you can. It is the prime example of the high alpha short range striker.

Once I learned that I started getting respectable damages and KDR's. Still taking me forever to get my KDR out of the gutter and it's just plain wrecking my over all KDR, but hey.. Its just numbers.

while mostly very true, i believe this has a lot do with the current state of SRMs and will change in time.

I said already, he is very like a bigger Quickdraw, but slower, and jumping around like a Bunny. So should suit your Playstyle. ;)

I'm seeing at least one of these per match, it's as common as the Centurion, which--given the wide variety of 'mechs--says a lot. I'm also not seeing any stock versions or minor modifications anymore.

One common theme is that they're all fast. Almost all of them that I see are running with an XL350 or XL360.

I personally love the Victor and I can't get enough of piloting them. I'm a 100% PUG mostly because I'm a casual player, often just having a 3-4 hour marathon once a week and that being the amount of gaming I do in a week.

I bought all four variants on release days and haven't looked back. I haven't had this much fun in a chassis since the Trebuchet came out, with the Treb being the only other chassis where I have gotten at least 2 variants through the elite pilot trees.

Granted, the DS, 9B, 9K are setup very similarly for me, each with a Gauss and ERPPC as the primary weapons, with various missile load outs as support weapons. The 9S is setup as a flanking striker.

They are fast, they hit hard, and they can take a fair amount of punishment. At the end of the day the Victors suit me and my place style very well, and I don't think I'll get excited about a chassis again until Battlemaster comes out... and then hopefully the Loki, Zeus, Cyclops, Axeman, and the long shot of the century...Warhammer. :p

Well, how is it compare to a Highlander then?
    Both are jumpy assaults.

I start to like playing my Victor 9S. The high Agility for an Assault is a big Plus. If you can avoid Damage you should have good Chance to take down heavier but slower Assaults. Just dont take direct hits at Torso. The Victor is not as bulky as an Atlas or Highlander. Im playing with Stock Engine, but now i wanna save some C-Bills for an XL Engine. I think Gauss or UAC.builds are more viable than AC20.builds.
