This is a highly entertaining build I came up with when it came time to level my Jagers up and wanted to utilize every hardpoint on the DD. The dual PPC + Gauss shot is obviously amazing for long range engagements and precision work. The 5 MGs rip apart anything else that gets close. Anything that's remotely softened up will have limbs flying off of it under sustained fire. The best part about this build is that it is hilarious and can actually work! A few examples (from when I remembered to screencap) Absolutely bonkers game on Canyon Network. We had 2 DCs from the beginning and played defensively. PPC + Gauss sniping scored kills throughout the match, and the MGs absolutely demolished the Lights that tried flanking. Scored 14 component destroys in this match alone. Advantages 1) Ability to precisely target weak points from a distance 2) Decent heat efficiency, especially when you can rely on your MGs for sustained DPS 3) Very solid defense against Lights. Leg those bastards with a wall of lead! 4) MGs can disable and kill pretty much any Mech that's seen fighting in a match Problems I've encountered: 1) The energy hardpoints on the Jager are not very conductive to sniping. You aren't going to do very well against dedicated sniping Mechs that can use terrain better than you. You have to take more of a support fire role in brawls. 2) XL engine and all of its disadvantages 3) Sub-optimal speed of the XL260 compared to a 285 or 300 4) MGs will go dry in longer matches. Might want to try to find space for another ton of ammo All in all, it's been a fun build to run. You'll get a stupid grin on your face every time you saw off the arms of an Atlas or shred the Light that's circle strafing you. It's not the tightest build in the world (I just started playing a week ago) but at least it's fun!
Welcome to Mechspecs, I hope you enjoy your stay. If you can afford it, this is how I would run your build. A bit faster and more MG ammo. You might put more armor to the front with this build, but that's up to personal preference.
Welcome to the forum! Holy GOD is that a scary build!! I've watched guys absolutely tear it up with 2xPPC and 6xMG. I don't even want to THINK about throwing a Gauss into that fray! I would take a look at Vergere's suggestion. Take the ammo at least. One ton of MG ammo with five weapons will disappear in an instant. Especially with 12v12s. In 8x8s when I ran 4xMG on a JM6-S, I still used three tons and it would run out once in a while. But, obviously, you've run this way and the screen shows, it works for you. An ammo tweak may just help a little.
Very good build. I like it; wanted to update the trusty Dual AC/20 Jager to something else. I love the introduction of the Gauss and the x5 MGs.
This mech shreds things! 5 stars man thanks! I just came over a hill and took out 3 Atlas in the span on 45 seconds, they weren't pristine but they weren't all that torn up either hehe...ended that game with 1029 dmg and 5 kills.
I modified this build a bit: Just because I like ERLLs over regular PPCs these days, wanted to run a bit faster and fit in an AMS The 1 ton left over can go into Armor/DHS/Ammo/Bigger Engine First drop: 709dmg Second drop: 683dmg Third drop: Well....I ran into a Chainsaw Ilya pretty early
