This is why i have issues with people being bothered by 3rd person or that weapons are OP. Skill and experience can get around any of that. Nerfs are the enemy here...not something being OP when it's not.
I am bothered by 3pv not because of the advantages it would give. While I normally guggest nim/maxing your mech at all cost I myself would not use 3pv AT ALL, even if it would provide me with some advantage like scrying around corners. I am bothered by 3pv on the grounds that this is a simulator and should not encourage non-simulator play like 3pv. I just want to encoruage playing the game as a simulator, and not just another mech shooter. As for weapons, I do not think the current of changing things is good for the development of the game. As said before they should encourage different styles of play instead by adding variety to the game, not by weapon changes.
Totally agree. We need more weapons, variations of the weapons we have, different modes to play in, etc...not just more mechs like this last phoenix upgrade money grab. Those 2 mechs, while cool, are FAR from what is needed. Right now, it feels more like a demo than even a beta. Whats worse...is the couple of weapons that actually need a buff are getting no love whatsoever and the machine gun even got further nerfed! WTF is that?! WHO in the world would have thought MGs were OP in any way?
my first post here, hehe  thats their intention, and it is a good one. ATM Gauss is clearly OP compared to AC/20 for almost any range (even at close range (50-300) Gauss is not clearly worse because of higher speed of the gauss slug). They want to fix it and i support them here, although i think they should have buffed AC/20 instead
Gauss is fine as it is. Its so heavy and takes up so many slots and carries low amounts of ammo it keeps itself in check. You're right on the A/c20 needing a buff before Gauss gets nerfed though. All it really needs is a range increase and even then, the a/c 20 is already a monster, it doesnt NEED it. At close range id MUCH rather have the a/c20. At this point we need to see the a/c 2 get some buffs and also the Machine gun and the Flamer as well before anything else gets nerfed. And welcome to MechSpecs
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh today is MAJOR patch day!!!! I bet there will be lots of interesting things to talk about after 1300 EST!
Yeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!! i hope they dont nerf again some weapons. I want some major Buffs! e.g. Gauss Buff: Damage 20 within 330m, 15 from 330-660m AC20 Buff: Cooldown 3.5 sec, Heat 5 AC2 Buff: Heat 0.8 MG Buff: Damage 0.2 LB 10-X Buff: Damage 15 within 270m ER-LLas Buff: Damage 10 within 450m LPLas Buff: Damage 11 SLas Buff: Range 180m SPLas Buff: Damage 3.5 Range 120m Tag Buff: Damage 0.5/sec
Interesting change on the Guass ... wonder why they made it do more damage close range then at long when it is supposed to be a long range weapon? Did the put in the .75 charge up time in this patch as well? Nice change for the AC20 ... that is one of my favorites. The MG buff, which double the dps of that weapon which is already very good, is going to make those Spiders scary.
Streak nerf. Please. Make it so the mech shooting them instantly explode. MGs were pretty powerful. The huge number of MG spiders before last patch was no coincidence. There even were people to mount 6 MGs on jaggermechs, even though it would only left them 2 energy hardpoints to work with! I think MGs are fine at the moment. No, if you want an indisputably underpowered weapon, take SRM2. More heat that other SRMs, less damage than streaks, I challenge you to find a single build using them. At least sometimes we see NARCs or flamers. But SRM2s, never.
Like every girl has ever said to a man "Timing is everything". Jump + almost immediate charge press (and hold) Apex Release + Fire 2x PPCs same time with 2nd group.
Well I could write a detailed analysis about the impact of the nerf on Gauss builds and tactics, but why bother if it can be pretty much summarized in a single word: Crap! To the Smurfy-Mobile! (Play Bat-tlemech-man music) (the TV series starring Adam West) (not "the movie that goes with all the cheap merchandise"). Time to de-gauss my Mechs.
I wonder if this is because of superior cooling or because of all the shots you don't fire due to charge-ups expiring.
What i meant was not the Heatmatters, but if you can really ever run dry since it takes soo much time now to shoot away your Gauss.Bullets. The DPS is so broken now because sometimes it simply doesnt fire even charged up. I think 3 tons will be fine now for a match.
I miss, don't fire, or hit the dirt a lot with my gauss now. That combined with the heat from ERPPCs means I might be looking for an entirely new build for my Heavy Metal. Get rid of the XL and mix it up brawling I guess
I do not mind the charging so much, but I think they should reduce the cool down time more if they are going to make it charge. The fast slug is good, but this is really a big debuff considering the dps.
