Here is the Hollywood write up: "The year is 3052, and John Locksword yearns for adventure. He forms a ruthless mercenary corps, the feared 'Chickenlegs', and is its only member. Preferring to work alone, he nonetheless brings his beloved with him into every battle. He loves his Locust. He loves it very much. His love for it seems unnatural, to some. He has no idea how to drive his mech. He struggles to please his love. Demonstrating a strong preference for whichever weapon happens to fire first, he goes by the call sign 'Bambi', reflecting the way he mashes the buttons like a girl playing Streetfighter. He works at their relationship, and tries to plumb the inner depths of his Locust. Man merges with machine in passinate embrace. Machine betrays man, boiling him alive in coolant. Coming in 2013: Tom Cruise is Bambi." Looks pretty exciting - can't wait for the trailer.
Isn't that what makes the story so touching? I am sure every one of us would hump our mechs if they would just give us half a chance. So common a story, such a taboo, what a heart-wrenching ending.
Just reading the topic, before reading the post, I was thinking "wow...they actually figured out how to ruin mechwarrior."
