This is the main mech I use, nothing much to say other than I love it. Weapon group #1 is the dual Large lasers #2 is the dual Ultra AC5s. Runs nice and cool allowing you to do ALLOT of damage. You have 225 rounds of Ultra AC5 ammo on this build, so snipe AND brawl away with this baby. If you run out of ammo, you most likely put out 900+ damage easy.(and that's with missing) Sometimes I switch to ER Large lasers if I feel like playing pure sniper and staying back. Large Pulse are good as well, but they kinda mess up the whole non-stop firing deal, and force you to drop some items/gear/armor. What I like to do is take a shot with the lasers, run the ultra ac5s, once the laser is ready to fire again, let off on the ultras, fire laser, then back to the ultras. Works well IMO, if the target is not moving fast and you don't have to lead the ACs, just hold both buttons down. BTW, don't skip out on the CASE, it works, ran this allot with and without, and trust me, you want it there. Anyhow give it a try and I hope you like it. Smeagol
Do you really need 10 tons of ammo for the UAC/5? I've never run out with 8 tons in my Catapult K2. You could fit in a missile rack and some ammo if you dropped some of the ammo. You could probably drop a heat sink or two, and fit in a SRM4/6 and a ton or two of ammo for those. But, if you like the build you got, more power to ya.
I ran that setup quite a few times(SRMs,LRMS,ect) and found it didn't really help things, kills your heat efficiency(you need it with lasers). If you run into that "I have to cool down" mode, you just became a useless brawler with zero firepower. Plus your in the worst spot to do so(close range). As far as ammo goes, yeah run 8, and do whatever you want with the 2 tons you'll gain. But feel free to adjust it to your taste. I find the way it is, seems to cover allot of matches. Say you run a 6 kill streak or a long sniper match, the ammo comes in handy(you don't want to run out). Plus you can't have allot of Missiles and allot of AC ammo at the same time without a major nerf to your mech(armor, heat problems,no slots, etc). I did find some SSRM2's worked okay. For me, the magic number for Heat Efficiency is in the 1.37-1.43 range, things keep running around there. But anyhow, I do like your ideas, friend runs this with SRMs(likes it). Just doesnt suit my play-style I guess. Smeagoller
Ever since I first mounted an UAC/5 in my HBK-4H I've wanted to mount two of them, and so when I saved enough for my D-DC, this is one of the first builds I tried. It's definitely a lot of fun, but if the RT is destroyed, you're down to a single LLAS, which means you're done for. So I stripped some UAC ammo and heat sinks and put in 3xSSRM2 with 2 tons ammo. This helps a lot with annoying lights and increases the total alpha to 43, while remaining quite manageable (heat efficiency 1.11).
I got my butt kicked by a variation of this the other day so decided to try and make my own, shown here. I am so loving this mech right now. I do 700-950 damage and usually pick up 2-4 kills (after 13 matches) which is much better than the 300-700 damage I was doing with other builds. However where this mech really shines is in component damage. Kills are nice, but this bad boy is great at just shredding opposing mechs. Usually I'd skip on the ER but I find that if you keep yourself at mid-to-long range then you're not going to be running hot and the ER LL work nicely. I'm still not sure on ammo placement or amount. 7 tons is usually just enough to get me through a match (accounting for sniping and using the UAC's as your primary weapon) but that will vary depending on your accuracy. I did run this with a STD 300 at first and it still handled well enough but I do find that the STD 340 gives me a better mobility for moving in and out of position, enough so that I personally think it's worth the upgrade. Alpha Strikers won't find much love with this build but I never looked at UAC/5's as alpha strike weapons myself. It struggles against lights in close range, but then that's been my experience with most assault mechs. Still if you can see them coming you can usually get some fire on them and scare them off.
Here is my variation on this loadout: It kicks so much ass since the UAC5 buff. And I really like having a 350 engine...Fast Atlas. A common score with this loadout: Good build
Here is the thing about this build. if your torso is focused down, you lose 3/4's of your weapons. and that's not cool. I've faced this mech a few times, and it can be deadly, but once that torso is gone, say good night.
I agreed with Vergere. Versus an Atlas, i always aim the right shoulder. Without it, you are free kill for the others. Sure you can do a lot of dammage with this build, but it s the same with any good atlas build, when you are not focused by ennemies. On the pictures, it was a party with 6 vs 6 assaults, and it seems that you rolled over the over team, while playing groupped when the others were not. I prefer to play with something more like this. You are more able to adapt to any situation.
my first impression after looking at this build? ---> FTW! I NEED MORE UAC5.AMMO!!! FTW!! Death by Ammo.X-Plosion? -> FTW!!!! p.s. i gave you 4 of 5 stars for the great cooling, insane amount of bullets, high DPS and AMS. For everything else ---> no garantuee
The thing is, TS may have a certain playstyle that this build fits on and for him, it's solid gold. But for me, when looking at it (and I have played DC UAC builds) feel exactly the same as Vergere. Everyone goes for that right shoulder and hit it hard. When it's gone, this build will have a single LLAS. Those three missile hardpoints deserve to be used. Three stars. PS: "Staying back and sniping with a Atlas" - really?
