I desperately want these mechs to work. Right now, however, they seem to be broken. It is the only mech I have piloted that manages to get cored without taking a single point of damage in any other part of the mech. It is even normal to take damage to the front CT of your mech when shot in the rear so torso twisted rarely works. Even though in I have more frontal armor in the torso than my Cataphract it seems as if it is butter for almost any mech.

As if the bad hitboxes weren't bad enough it appears there is a severe disconnect in cockpit POV and where the cockpit actually sits (Hitbox). I was behind a ridge and could not see over the top but managed to get 1 shot in the cockpit because an enemy said he could easily see my Cockpit windows. Now it stands to reason that if I am looking out the cockpit window and can only see a ridge it SHOULD be that they cannot see my cockpit if they are on the other side unless something is seriously borked or he has curving bullets.

On top of all that your weapons when carried in the arms don't seem to converge until several hundred meters away and that is even worse than my Cataphracts.

The loadout potential on these mechs is outstanding but right now its not worth spending a penny IMHO until they get fixed.

I am hoping that they fix or if not broken improve the hit detection on this mech. If you are shot in the rear shoulder you should not be taking damage in your CT Front.

sounds like you need to experiment with something called a new tactic. Try something different, like TT.

    ;)

Tried and tried some more. Ive twisted, Ive jived, I've stood on my hands but nothing seems to change the fact that all damage bleeds into your CT no matter where you are hit. As I said earlier shot in rear shoulder, shoulder goes yellow front CT NOT rear CT goes orange (rear CT remained undamaged)...
The only builds I am going for now on this are very long range builds which seems such a waste for a mech with such slot potential.

Is the effect more pronounced in the Orion that it is in the Dragon? If so, I suspect a bug...

o for damn sure. Im thinking the Orion just hasnt received the finishing touches that he needs yet. Got released a week or 2 too early.

Indeed, it feels as though they rushed this one out the door. I enjoy the feel of the mech in how it handles and such, but it just seems as though it wasn't quite as tuned as it should have been. I'm not giving up on it though. I drove an Awesome for a long time, and this mech reminds me of when I first began that AWS grind. It's a quirky mech and takes some getting used to. It's great at clean up and swatting stuff off your assaults.

sounds like a repeat of the Kintaro then. CT'd an insane amount then patched a few weeks later. If it's any consolation, the Kintaro is actually a decent medium now that they fixed the hitboxes. I'd suggest grinding through basic/elite in the meantime and then when it's patched you'll actually want to master it and will know what final loadouts you'll want to stick with.

Quite so. Literally a walking CT. I feels as if all the damage skips the other hit boxes and goes right to the CT. I've only died to a side torso twice. Every other time has been CT. Boxing helps a bit, but not nearly as much as it should with those huge arms.

As to what can be done to fix the issues with the CT hit box? It needs the Kintaro hit box rework/make-over. There is something wonky with the way damage is spread for sure.

I agree that the center torso needs to be tuned on the Orion because I have not died to a side torso hit yet. Since discovering this and I have been running nothing but XL engines and still die to center torso hits.

Yep definately wonky I think the balancing act will be to not OVER tune it. If this thing had that amount of armor it would easily be the Atlas of the heavy world.
1.) way I know the CT hitbox is borked..."Incoming Missile!" so I ram my face into the side of a building to mitigate most of the damage...Only CT got hit even though the missiles hit my head and shoulders lol

This. Have had the same thing happen to me multiple times now. Turn away from srms and the same thing happens. Borked indeed!

Agreed, my Orion gets taken out faster than any other mech I own. Running with Max armor and a std300 engine, cored instantly it seems. I have mine set up with AC20/SRM6s and med lasers so this is really pronounced since I'm usually exposing myself at least briefly to get a shot off.

I actually don't bother running it anymore.

I can only assume that their test team doesn't have the MC to buy pre-release 'mechs.
