Was thinking the guy put 80 points through my cockpit with a dual gauss shot at first - but I was seeing MY damage total there... dude was drilling people right and left though apparently, expanded zoom must be working well! Guy was in a Jager...only damage I took in the round, had to be a 500m+ shot, pretty impressive...
I don't know of anyone who can do this consistently. I would love to see his view point, because otherwise he (perhaps) may be using some system of hack. However, dual gauss does 30 points of damage, and that MAY be enough to core you from the cockpit IF you only have 15 or less in the head.
There's no evidence for anything close to hacking. Maybe the guy really is that good. Maybe Warchanter was standing still and allowed a very easy shot. Try not to accuse of hacking unless there is actual proof or you just add to the trolling of the internet.
Stalker 5M has 18 pts in the noggin I believe...
All mechs have 18 armor in the head unless you remove some. Dual gauss is much more than enough to blast through that armor. What i dont know is how many hitpoints the cockpit has after the armor is removed. Apparently less than 13hp.
Yeah I was relatively still, I think it was a clean shot... I posted because it's a pretty rare thing to have happen in my experience, very impressive - I'm not trying to say anything else... I'll tip my cap to the guy on this one...
Even at max armor, two Gauss shots will blow straight through any 'mechs head. Heads have a max of 27 health (armor + structure). Well, if they're following TT rule that structure points = .5 x Max armor.
I see some outright wrong, dumb shit being said in this thread. No disrespect but I'm settin it straight right now... Guys its very simple. Internal is 15, combined with max (in this case 18) = 33 [max]. This is why 16 in head is acceptable in most mechs in order to drop those 2 points into something else more important, like legs. It's the reason why a lot of legit mech builds rock stuff like 21 instead of 20, or 46 instead of 45, give it another 1 extra in case it eats PPC+Gauss cuz internal is 15. This type of armor placement is an archaic design approach left over from the days of PPC/AC20/Gauss spam, but it's still worth staying true to as of late. Never put less than 16 is a rule of thumb a lot of smart players go by. 16+15=31=don't die from triple ppc back in the day, they'd still need a laser scrape; gg. When they implemented ghost heat, this is the entire reason why Gauss + dual PPC was the logical shift - cuz it could still throw an instant head shot (35 dmg). Cmon guys...
My 3 Gauss Ilya has made many Catapults unhappy at over 1000m with a single headshot (those that put less than max armour usually). Can't say I can do it on a whim, but it has been happening a lot more frequently after the new Adv. Zoom clarity. Hasn't been limited to catapults too, but they are the most frequent by far. 3 gauss at 1012m should put out 33 damage exactly. So anything under 1000m is guaranteed against any mech.
Why must you always come in with such a condescending attitude? How is anything anyone said "dumb shit?" We simply didn't know how much internal armor there is. Forgive us for not being a titan of an MWO player like yourself. Just because you say "no disrespect" doesn't mean you're allowed to say whatever you want or say disrespectful shit if it is. And just because it's how you and your team talk in TS doesnt mean its ok other places. It's still disrespectful and you're responsible for what you say. At least have the confidence to say what you want without trying to excuse yourself from any blame or grief happening by saying "no disrespect." As for the information, thank you. It was very enlightening. It also could have been just as easy to say without all of the demeaning remarks. P.s. As to the question in your signature "Why always me?" Maybe it's because you put yourself out there for it to happen.
Typically, I would dignify the shit you just said in the most colorful terms, having no problem whatsoever putting you in your place.. ...but today I'll hold my tongue and just say, "you're welcome noob".
I admit, my figure of 9 internal structure was based off of a hunch. Do you have anything more than a hunch behind your assertion of 15?
TT was 3 internal for the cockpit, but MWO bumped it up to 15 to avoid those extremely accurate players from auto-winning just by scrapping mech's heads with lasers. Not sure where/when the official decision was made, but I can see that the general consensus is that there is 15 internal structure for the cockpit.
Go in testing grounds ps - in fact ill make a vid for you guys to see internals on head shots for various stock mechs to show you how you can see exactly how it translates from having max head armor to 33, some shit stock mechs have 12 or w/e, etc etc and show exactly how that stacks up and how it translates into colors and internal dmg. gimme an hour or two update - ok now i'm getting some weird shit; had an A1 and atlas D die in 3 PPC shots, though those mechs have 18 max armor on stock variants............ ill try and figure it out
lol, thats because you have nothing to say. You're a good MWO player but a horrible, negative person...so please, rid us of the plague of your presence.
Relax girls, you're both pretty. How about you both tuck it back in and just stick with the topic rather than the delivery style.
Won't dignify that either, you're not worth it. Anyways, I'm putting together a vid of some interesting stuff at the moment. Head internal is 100% confirmed at 15 armor - still - it remains unchanged at that number for every mech. What has changed though, is crits or RNG or whatever the fuck... it's... it's weird. I'll show that crap in the vid as well. PS - and mike i was on topic until this nonfactor wanted to go ad hominem, and i didnt even get into it so dont look at me
I know the "head" of each mech is very specific, not simply the highlighted area in your mechbay. Has anyone seen an actual diagram showing the exact location of each mech's head hitbox in combat? There are only four mechs that I can consistently headshot and I hate training grounds so I haven't experimented enough there. Maybe Lord Soy could do a video of headshots. (as if the fella isn't busy) He seems to have the knowledge/experience beyond most. On topic; My friend actually made a headshot seeking build (2x Gauss/LL) and it works great against certain mechs, however, others just seem illogical to find the cockpits...
