Ranges. You get PPC for long range snipery things, LLas for most situations, MLas when things are up close and your heat is a bit high, and AC5 for every range, any time! A bit for everything for everyone! The heat would be BAD if you do an Alpha, so don't do that. You focus on the right tool for the right job.
The PPCs and Large Laser have a very similar engagement range anyway, so in my opinion, its pretty moot to have both, considering the build runs hot as-is. Perhaps an LRM 20 or Gauss Rifle with 2 ER Large and 4 Mediums instead?
The Gauss and 2x LLas is done and done already by other people, so did 4x LLas (I revive the 6x LLas to boot) I am not sure about LRM in atlas, While I know the theory of a single LRM support built into Atlas, I usually prefer to press my Atlas into the frontline. I do havfe been trying out a Gauss build on my own, but I feel it being inferior to some of the builds here.
