This is my Primary Direct Fire Support 'Mech. It takes good Heat Discipline to maintain a constant barrage of weapons fire, but it brings down enemy 'Mechs at a suprising rate.
This is the current loadout I am running. I made mention on another thread about just how much I like the Standard Issue K2, so I figured I shoould prolly run with it. This is the upgraded; new and imporoved version I plan on selling to the DCMS for a Bazillian Credits. Mythweaver
Nice looking builds, and reminds me that I need to buy a 315 for my K2 some day soon! I've been finding the ER PPCs difficult to manage, but with the speed and backup weapon groupings in your second build I might have to give it a try.
I love running this one. I stick a 9 by 9 Coolshot in there just to give me a little extra cushion when really laying on the firepower but this mech is pretty wicked at getting kills from a great distance away... There are many times where my team mates hear me explain "Stole it!!!!" on TS3 as I kill a target they are working on! 5* rating for sure!
I've run builds like this many a time, and they work very well (unless you run into an AC40 Jager). I used standard PPCs, though. I can't hit anything out at the ER's max, and the LLas cover the min range effectively. However, these changes do relegate the 'mech strictly to support status.
I really like this build! (The original one) I did see the 2nd one that you posted and it's good too, but I find that MGuns dont pack enough punch. Thanks for posting this!
The OP build is very nice. Great for sniping, you can also take out light mech in a reasonable time with just the Large lasers.
I know this post is a few months old, but just wanted to throw this out there. I'm pretty new (3rd day), and went looking around to try to figure out what's good and what isn't. Journey started with this poll: HERE The responses gave me a good idea of what I was looking for. I wanted to pick a Mech with a lot of diversity that doesn't just end up gimped. I've only got the basic efficiency tree completely unlocked, haven't bought a 2nd or 3rd chassis yet. About to buy the XL 300 after a few more games (I like the XL 315 builds, but there are a lot more builds posted w/ the 300) and then going to a jumper cata in your face build so I can eventually grab the elites/masters. Anyway, thanks a lot for the build post! Just wanted to show my appreciation, here are the results from a day 3 scrub. It's nothing too special, just feels a lot more productive than struggling to figure things out and getting crap scores. I've been trying this variant lately after some tips from a KaoS guy... Ranges are more balanced and better heat efficiency for longer sustained fire.
Large Lasers AND machine guns. This version really keeps the lights off you, and gives you great coverage at all ranges out to about 900m: Lose 2 DHS to put the AMS back on (and slightly up armour) - heat efficiency is still pretty solid at 36%:
Actually, a case could be made for ERLLasers these days. With AMS and/or MGs at your preference (both with 16 DHS = 33% efficiency)...
If you're not mounting autocannons (ie the builds in this thread), the Jester is hands down the better choice due to jump jets.
Depends. I never realised before I actually piloted one, but Jester's mobility is a real pain (mostly because it has a 95° torso twist angle only, which is extremely low for a Catapult), sometimes I really wish I were in my K2. Not to mention Jester has to be bought with real money.
Agree with Epikt, the difference is really huge. You need the Jesters JJ to turn with lights where as with the K2 it's just twist all the time. Still, with the nerf the cats are less twistable. Griffins are now the dancemasters. So, IMHO, the K2 still has a place. Dual ERPPC and Gauss? Check.
Ew. The PPCs don't need to be ER because you should be sniping from range anyway. AMS while decent for surviving isn't cooling your mech down, and your armor is lacking. This is my build. It runs cooler than yours while being a little more armored, two things which help on maps like Toumaline and Caustic (which quickly devolve into deathball vs deathball)
