Nay, lest I invoke the wrath of the ghost heat.
http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=119&l=87630e1b3d856b99072e5f79e6b18f2e9b9f0861 Less Ammo - greater Engine - more Heatsinks
I think you're down a heatsink, dude, and the nature of this build demands more heat sinks and more ammo... You don't really need more speed.
This is a good build with x3 AC/2? Hell yes - a mini-flak-gunner at 85t. Need to go out and see if it cuts other mechs in half. MT
Never chain fire AC2's. The cooldown for an AC2 is 0.52 seconds, and the chain fire timing is 0.5 seconds, so using chainfire effectively turns 3 AC2s into one really heavy AC2.
Pretty much every match I have made use of those lower arm actuators to only show my side to the enemy. Works great and cannot be duplicated by any other assault right now (for ballistic weapons I mean). Here is a picture illustrating what I did in most matches. I get to the front line and then turn away toward the rest of my team angling myself to protect my CT. If I need to, I can quickly show my back to spread damage as I get myself turned all the way around. I have found that shooting those 3x AC2s at any angle lets you bring the pain to multiple targets very quickly. Dakka one until it dies or hides, move to the next. Sometimes there were very short windows where I could see a mech, but the speed and flexibility with those lower actuators lets me get shots in quick before the enemy hides behind terrain. Mech A (Clawmaster) continues to nail Mech C at maximum torso and (close to) maximum arm angle while moving away or strafing. Mech B only has a small side profile of Mech A to shoot at even though he is close-by to Mech C who is taking all the damage. Even in a 1v1, you are able to reduce your profile greatly to your opponent by maneuvering like this.
Hmm - I tried it with less AC/2 ammo, swapped the PPC for LLAS and mounted an AMS instead.. BLR-1D Might drop engine size down a bit for a bit more AC/2 ammo. x3 AC/2 will go through the 225 in a couple of minutes...
I'm usually one for maneuverability of firepower, even in an assault, but you're losing too much with your build. With so little ac/2 ammo you wont be able to keep a sustained fire for as long as you should. With fewer heatsinks you'll also have to limit your fire. I'm no expert, but I played around with your build and come up with this. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=119&l=aff45608967d89b8c60fdd342dacefb13292a7f6 Use the ERLlas and ac/2 at range, then swap the ER for the mlas if you get in close. While the ERLLas is hotter, at a distance heat is more manageable so I figure it's worth the tradeoff over the LLas. If you want to keep the 340 here's an option http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=119&l=6f673ef7c547884206fd40b292cfd39693743b3b Just hang back and use the ac/2 at range, using the speed not to close, but to help you move in and out of good positions. Regardless of what you put in your right arm, the 3x ac/2's are going to be doing the bulk of your damage, so you really want to have the ammo and the heat sinks for them.
PPC and Triple AC2 @16 DHS? I think you cant really use all of them together. Personally i would load much more Heatsinks for such a hot weaponloadout. And that slow Speed below Stock.. :whacko:
Swap the ppc out for whatever you like. But even in the slow engine this thing brings murder. I've had loads of fun with it.
Tested the Battlemaster out last night and I am not disappointed. Being a light / medium pilot; I have stayed away from the Assaults but the BLR is a joy. Here's my fit - dropping the PPC and retaining the Std 340 engine. BLR-1D I think someone in this thread suggested it; I moved the ammo around and tweaked some other bits but with a couple of cool shots; this mech rocks. The main armament are the AC/2 (on group fire) and they can chew through mechs very quickly. Oddly, it seems to do it faster than my x3/x4 ac/2 Jager but that must be a perception thing. When I need to close, the x5 MLAS can cut through most things with ease but mashing them down will generate hit so some fire discipline is required. Decent speed, decent armour and plenty of oomph. Most matches I get 2-4 kills, plenty of assists and loads of fun. 5/5 and when I hit elite, it can only get better. MT
I've been running something very similar to your build, but I feel like dropping the engine down to accommodate the build really detracts from what the Battlemaster has as one of it's main features: a huge-ass engine rating. So I took the same general idea, and just swapped out the engine. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=119&l=7eebdc5537ee17ee09a20d547a55c3fa0f956d26 The main draw is that running with the stock speed, especially after hitting Speed Tweak, lets you stay out of the main brawl and keep ripping people open with the AC/2s from range. The PPC should be for finishing blows, or shots at targets you're not certain you can keep focused long enough to use the AC/2s effectively. Same heatsinks so same cooling efficiency, with an additional ton of ammo. Because you always need more ammo.
If you don't mind living dangerously. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=119&l=8774b720947d4ccef53733115258d4fcce326dc1 or http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=119&l=50ddb22a9bf25637551c0584ac62a84cd0ba2d9d
I actually dropped the PPC and threw in an XL350 (XL380 when I get the c-bills) and a lot of ammo, lol. I just want to go fast in this thing and harass the hell out of everyone on the field. Plus, I like to be able to get out of danger quickly, but that's just me. Still a good build!
This build is so much fun! I only had a XL375 and tinkered this variant: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=119&l=180c1a444dc6f550cea9b9b49aade91de2a87218 It's fast, it dakkas and has 2 high mounted LLas....nothing more I could wish for.
