I did not want to commit a lot of money on this mech so i used my XL300 engine that was lying around.
In addition it deals perfectly with the flood of light mechs currently.

Note: This build totally works without DHS and is designed to be as cheap as possible while still having some sniper fun.

How about stripping a ton of armor from the arms (especially the left one which is mainly a shield-arm) to add a MLas?

I use mine with the 275XL taken from my 5M which allow me to add some Gauss Ammo and a BAP. This last one is just an obligation if you want to use your SSRM2 and it helps for long range targeting. Finally, I just use 1 JJ for positionning.

    5/5 stars for me

Why use streak's on a sniper build? Other then vs lights, any mech would not fear this up close. Use the 6,5 tons on a LLAS (plus another ton of gauss ammo) instead and have a viable backup that doesn't require lockon and has more range without ammo dependency?

At the moment, you have two ammo dependent weapon systems, your main only has ammo for 450 in damage potential, your secondary another 450 up close.

My advice is to take a laser and beef up your Gauss ammo but it's your build and I'm sure you love it as it is. :)

I don't speak for the OP, but for me, I prefer the 3 ssrm2 with a guaranted 15 damage at short range to Large Laser. I never saw a light guy not fleeing from me after one or two volley. And with the agility of this mech, you can stay out of reach of heavy mechs to let your gauss do its task. I never run out of ammo on both systems, but I use the build I post here. And with 1100 max damage, I think it is ok.

Not fearing this build up close? Put the SSRMs on chainfire and start running rings round anything that comes near you and put 15 points of pinpoint dmg into it every 4 seconds while rocking their cockpit.

Remind me again why I should face rush this build?

Only thing I'd do differently is run 40 rounds of gauss at the expense of slightly slower speed

It is 15 spread damage every 3,5 seconds. It's not pinpoint damage, hence, streaks are excellent vs lights but not so great for punching specific, vulnerable holes in heavier mechs? If ECM comes close, the weapon system won't work. I'm all for streaks generally but as the only backup weapons of a gauss sniper I'm not enthusiastic. That's all.

I'm sorry if I somehow offended your senses as you seems to be taking this harder then I intended.

the 15 damage he mentioned belonged to the gauss rifle. If you practice enough it's not as hard to use in CQC.

    XL300 version, optimized.

this needs speed, otherwise it's better to just run the 2D2

    Good Build, Thank you.

Here is a screen from the best match I have had so far with it.

Well, with the recent changes to missiles, Streaks are back in fashion since they have pinpoint damage once more.

Are you willing to change your mind about your thoughts on the original build?

Streaks deal less damage so it's now only 12 damage, and they still target random components. The missiles just deal their damage to said targeted component instead of splashing it all over the place.

I'm not convinced that spending 6.5 tons on 'light deterrence' is good. Even in PUGs, if you're using a Gauss-range Sniper you're bound to be surrounded by more than enough teammates. Instead you should probably consider getting an ERPPC. Also works against lights (if you have good enough aim), and has 10 real pinpoint damage, that you can combine with the Gauss.

Yes, it's 'Cheap' on a whole new level, but it works.

On the other hand, for those who can use gauss up close, changing to 4x SRM4 is a choice now.
